Interesting book. Some of my friends had said it was good so I picked it up and read it today. I was suprised it was so short, 215pages and it took me 2hrs.

Not quite a satisfactory ending though :p

The knack in flying lies in learning to throw yourself at the ground, and miss.

That's the whole splendor of the increasingly illogically named trilogy.

There are 4 "main" books in the "trilogy" by the way;)

1. Hitchhikers Guide the the Galaxy
2. The Restaurant at the end of the Universe
3. Life, the Universe, and Everything
4. So long, and Thanks for all the Fish

what exactly is this book about?
It is about a bizarre journey of several people that has no real purpose or point. It is funny in a very odd way though. British humour and all.

The chapter about whatever happened between Arthur and Trillian is one of the funniest things I have ever read. Of course I loaned my complete trilogy to a bonehead at work who promptly lost it...

I picked up all 6 of them combined into 1 large book from a borders about 4 months ago for $15. You have to read more than just the first one to get all the humor. And the first one is not meant to stand by itself, so you shouldn't be expecting an "ending" in just that one book.
