I'm having a little trouble figuring out the conflicting specs I'm seeing on this monitor.

Are there several different types of this model?

I keep seeing conflicting specs regarding the dot pitch! .22 , .24 , .27 WTF?

Is this a good choice for a 21" display?

Heres some links to show what I mean.

I can tell you that the 0.27mm is wrong.

0.22mm is horizontal dot pitch, 0.24mm is diagonal dot pitch.

So .24mm is the "normal" dot pitch spec everyone else uses?

Is .24 good for a 21"?

0.24mm, the diagonal dot pitch, is kind of like the standard for measuring shadow mask monitors, and yes 0.24mm is very good for a 21".

Cuz Ive been searching for a 21" for awhile & I decided on the Hitachi because of this article on Flat Panel Displays.

LOL, thats not an article on flat panels, its their technology term glossary. They make shadow mask tubes, so obviously they would praise the shadow mask technolgy over the aperture grille. Dont decide base on that little explaination, you should go to a store and see for yourself.

Thanks for laughing!

It seemed to make some pretty good sense & since I do feel I'd be one of those people who would be annoyed by AG lines, I figured I'd go with Hitachi instead of Sony AG displays.

Going to the store to look is tough in pa where most places carry HP & Gateway pcs.

Nearest Comp USA is 2hr drive!

And NoOne around here carries bigger than 19" in stock. :(

Well then if you dont like the AG lines, then I guess Shadow Mask is right for you. Hitachi make some of the most outstanding shadow mask monitors, so you're looking at the right thing.

I Finally got a look at an Aperature Grille display.

It was only a Sony e400 but I was really impressed with the image brightness, clarity, flatness & color.

Now I see why people put up with those lines, ITS WORTH IT!

I'm going aperature grille hunting.

Not that the descision is gonna be any easier.
Sony G500
iiYama i20a
SyncMaster 1200nf
Mitsubishi 2040u
KDS AV-21TF

Wow!
I dont see how I can possibly choose without being able to see any of these side by side for comparison.

After teddi & I saw that Sony AG display, we decided I was gonna go aperature grille after all.
We also got to see the Hitachi 811 at a local Cyberwarehouse, and I too prefer the AG display, lines & all.

So,
I just ordered an IBM P260 which uses Sonys Trinitron tube.

It'll be here sometime tomorrow teddi, but you cant have my old 19" until it shows up. :)

Thnx for the help LXi.

LXi,
I just noticed you reccommended the IBM to me in another thread asking about black 21inchers.

Guess I should have took your advice then, I'd already be looking at my new display. ;)
