Hitachi Pleads Guilty to LCD Price Fixing

I had no idea how deep this sort of price fixing ran. It is sad for us consumers.



WASHINGTON - Hitachi Displays Ltd. has agreed to plead guilty to conspiring to fix prices on the sale of LCD panels.

The Japan-based electronics firm agreed to pay a $31 million fine as part of its deal with the U.S. Justice Department.

In other news the Obama administration is set to give an additional $31 million dollars in handouts to Citi bank...

I wonder what this will do for LCD prices.
Hopefully scares folks into lowering prices like what happened with DDR2 prices.

i always thought lowerend LCD tv's were so overpriced.

Yeah it made no sense that there was gaining returns on getting bigger screens, going from 32" to 47" was like a 40% increase in price.
