It's not that they "fixed it" insomuch as the "175steal" code is no longer valid - it expired. And if the codes weren't meant to be stackable, they wouldn't be.

The fact that they're honoring prices of $404.01 is a mark of a company that doesn't care it's losing a little bit of money so long as its customers stay satisfied. I would have bought my monitor arm from them, but it was 70-someodd bucks @ Dell.

Good luck to everyone who got in late on the deal.

Just want to say what a great company. They didn't get my order out on time monday and I payed for 2nd day air since I am going out of town and they called me today and shipped it today and upgraded the delivery to overnight for free. Thats great customer service to make sure I received it before I left. Kudos to a good customer service company.

Just a few pieces of advice for people buying this monitor with the idea of graphic-intensive gaming in mind.

The 16ms reaction time essentially works out to a maximum speed of around 60fps. Considering the human eye has an exponentially-increasing difficulty of perceiving speed differences above 32fps (around the speed of a VHS tape), it would be suggested that if you have a high-powered video card like a GF4 Ti4xxx, FX 56/800 or Radeon 95/6/7/800, that you experiment with Anti-Aliasing and Anisothropic Filtering on the highest levels the hardware can take to get down to that 60fps mark, since you won't really notice any speed increases after that, and the sharpness of this LCD will really bring out the beauty AA and AF bring to the table.

Warning to all who are ordering the Hitachi CML175SX.

I got mine in two days ago.

I HATE IT. Very poor quality compared to my old Compaq TFT5010 LCD display. Yes, I did run the video tweaker. Yes, my resolution is set to 1280x1024. I deeply regret having bought the Hitachi.

I'm in the process of doing just that given MonitorsDirect excellent return policy. Just wanted to warn people about buying this LCD.

Vendor == good
CML175 == bad

I just received a Gateway 18.1" lcd monitor that is supposedly "refurbished." It can be found at Overstock.com for $399, and if you find the original thread for the Gateway monitor there is a 10% off link posted (by me) in there. It is not a coupon - it is an actual link. Brings the monitor down to $360, and then I got 4% back from eBates for a net total of $348 and change.

I can only say that I was stunned at the quality of this monitor. Very clear, clean, crisp and very sharp. I did some gaming with it (although I am not a heavy gamer) using some FPS games and some racing games. I could see no ghosting whatsoever. As far as the "refurb" thing goes, inside the box was a note from Gateway saying that this was a "replacement" monitor, and for the customer to please return the accessory package with the original monitor. This seems to me to be a new monitor replacing a defective monitor, but again, the carton has the word "refurbished" on it. I think its a brandy-new monitor myself, but I could be wrong.

In any event I highly recommend this monitor to anyone shopping for lcd monitors.

One other thing - this monitor has both a DVI and analog connection. I hooked up both, and as most people have said it is almost impossible to see a difference in the quality of the image. I still use the DVI though!!

Warning to all who are ordering the Hitachi CML175SX.

I've had mine, the Hitachi CML175B, for about 5 months now. Also bought it through MonitorsDirect. Great people to buy from.
Anyway, my monitor has been fine. I love it. It works great with both office stuff and the pc games I play on it (Battleship 1942; Medal of Honor multiplayer).
I have it hooked via DVI cable and have the latest ati drivers on my ati video card.
I am looking at possibly getting a second one of these for my daughter, too bad I just missed out on the 404.01 deal mentioned.

:)

Oh man, I don't know if I can hold out. Must... buy... yummy... LCD...

For $429.01 is this a deal I shouldn't pass up if I'm in the market for an LCD? :confused:

Just got mine yesterday. What an improvement over my ailing CRT. I'd ended up selling the 15" LCD I got with a 4550 a while back because it sucked but this LCD is great!

No pixel issues whatsoever. Hopefully I'll never need to test the 3yr warranty I got for a penny... (grin)

I got mine a couple days ago. It might just be me or the monitor I received, but the display is kind of grainy. Also the viewing angle is kind of weak. I can't find an angle to look at the monitor from in order to get the contrast to look even throughout the entire monitor. Maybe I'm just picky. Ah well. For $429.01 I shouldn't complain. :)

Yeah I've tried these "gaming lcds" and they just can't compare to a good CRT. However, they do save you lots of space. My desk felt almost empty when I bought the lcd, which I later returned.
