DVI-? only sends/receives the Analog signal. (Not sure on the last letter, DVI-A????)

Yea, I finally got some decent settings for my eyes using gamma/brightness/contrast settings, but then colors don't come out that great. I saw some jeans on a webpage with the colors too dark. Anyways, I'm about to give up. Initially the white backgrounds are blinding and colors appear washed out. Now the colors aren't right. Can't find a good balance.
What kind of changes did you make Achtung?

Just checked it is DVI-A, its a High-Resolution Analog signal.
DVI-A (nalog) format is used to carry a DVI signal to an analog display, such as a CRT monitor or an HDTV. Although some signal quality is lost from the digital to analog conversion, it still transmits a higher quality picture than standard VGA.
