For my intent and purposes, yes, I really like mine. I switched out from a 19" Hitachi SuperScan Supreme 752 crt for this LCD for 5 days now and have not regreted it.
There are other reviews floating around on this monitor and AT is suppose to post one some time soon so you can go from there.

looked at a buch of threads here... seems as though there will be an ariticle posted on this monitor , but an overwhelming number of people support this monitor, the only lingering question is how it compares to the planar monitor that uses the same lcd ?

Like you said, the new Planar uses the same panel. As such the specs are identical and the image quality should be the same. The differences will be in the case design and additional features (if any).

Also compare to that fact that BenQs FP 767 is supposed to use the same panel (In fact its my understanding that it is BenQs tech that Hitachi and Planar are using as they were the first to create and annnounce it), and it has the same specs. But price is quite a bit cheaper than both the Planar and the Hitachi.

I did a quick check and BenQ FP767 is listed at computers 4sure for $440

pretty cheap for a LCD, quite a bit cheaper than $570 for the Hitachi, the warrentee (BenQ's) is 1yr hotswap, and 3 year total...

but where's the evidence that the monitor is the exact same as the the hitachi and planar?

I do not have the evidence that they are the same, I read in on a article from News.com but have looked for the last hour and can not find it. I think it was a video prereview from one of the large computer shows that came out around Dec. 10. I do know the specs match almost exactly though and from what I read in the past, plus I was told this by several other people in forums. I will keep looking for data but I am pretty sure they are the same panel.

On pricewatch I found the BenQ FP 767 model for under $400. And am still seriously considering buying one. I would like to find a review though.

Here is one article listing all three coming out about the same time but it does not say they are the same.

Ok found evidence, It is BENQ technology.

In the review at Toms Hardware it states that AU-Optronics screens are used for the Hitachi Model.

"AU Optronics was formed with the merger of Acer Display Technology, Inc., and Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation."

Acer is Benq, so I can now almost gurantee they are the same screen. AU Optronics is the one who designed the screen (So Acer tech :) )

None whatsoever. All of the problems that people have with TFTs normally, dont occur on the CML174 range of TFTs.
I have one, and have completed UT2003/Unreal2/MOHAA/Rallisport Challenge/Jedi Knights 2 on it, and i dont notice any of the problems associated with TFTs on it.
The only thing is, the when you first get it, for the first few minutes in games, it does trail a very very very very tiny bit, but because its so little, you`ll forget about it pretty quick. Trust me on this, you will not regret getting this TFT. You pay for what you get for, and for the money, its a amazing monitor.
