I've been looking around for a while and this monitor seems to me as the best bang for my buck. I'm pretty much set on buying it (great deal from New Egg), but I'm curious as to others user's opinions on it (I know you're out there! Is anyone using this or even hear good or bad things about it? Thakns for the help guys!

I just bought the CM721F but not in black. It isn't to bad. Once you start getting to the edge of the screen you can see the pixels more. The center of the screen is bright and crisp. I kinds wish I wouldn't have gotten the 721 but for the price it isn't bad. Got it for $250 shipped. You will see what I am talking about if you get one. About 1-2" on each side is kinda of fuzzy bacause the pixels are larger. I believe the 721F and Samsung 955DF are the same.

From what I understand they want to stop making CRT-type monitors and instead focus on LCDs. There still seem to be plenty of Hitachis out there so I'm not sure what's happening right now.

Hitachi has gotten out of the CRT manufacturing business, not the monitor business. They have refocused the facilities that used to manufacture CRTs to making LCD panels.

The Hitachi monitor division and the CRT division are two completely different units responsible for their own profit / loss. Just like Sony, Mitsubishi, Samsung and others who make both CRT?s and Monitors.

Many companies use other manufacturers CRT?s in their monitors. Look at Samsung for example, there flag ship 19? 900NF and 1200NF use a Mitsubishi CRT, not a Samsung CRT. Even some of Hitachi?s products today use Non-Hitachi CRT?s. Look at ViewSonic they use a variety of CRT?s in their products. This is very common in the industry.

Does anyone know who makes the CRT in the Hitachi CM721F?

Slap...In another thread you mentioned you thought it was the same as the Samsung 955df...who makes that one?
