Hitachi CLM174 Flat panel - Limited Colors?

I've been reading great things about the Hitachi CLM174, with it's 16ms response time and I'm seriously considering buying one. However, somone pointed out to me that on the spec. sheet on the Hitachi site, it says "Colors - 262K". Is this the norm for LCD monitors? Does it compromise the color quality?
.. and is that how the 16ms response time is being achieved!!?

Any feedback or advice would be welcome!

This is a simple typo on the data sheet, it supports 16M colors

has anyone actually bought this monitor and reviewed it?

for such a "hot" ticket item in terms of the 16ms response time, it seems like no-one actually owns one... weird

I saw a comparison with it and an Albotron LCD (?) I think... I'll try to find it.

There are also two other 16 ms response LCDs that are about to be released... one by BenQ and the other by Planar.

Very hard to find reviews on the Hitachi too.

262K or 18bit is normal for notebook's LCD,
but desktop LCD have been 16.8M or 24bit long time ago.

I have had one for almost two weeks now. I wrote my initial impressions on it in General Hardware after I got it and they are still valid.

I based my purchase decision on that GamePC review mentioned in this thread. The monitor is every bit as good as it says in that review. Best TFT I have used.
