I have the 65" version of the same TV, and I love it.
However, there is a known issue (not sure if it's specific to my model of receiver or not) with the Dish 622 receiver and the HDMI connection... every so often, the screen will switch to a solid color, or invert, or something. It only does it for a minute or two, then clears right up (or you can cycle the power). It's really sporadic, though, sometimes it will happen a few times in a night, but sometimes it doesn't happen for days.

I bought this same TV for $100 more last black friday. I loved everthing about it except that issue (which affected most things over the HDMI connection).

Fortunatlly there is a fix for that now. Check the AVSforums, just have to change a few settings in the support menu, and you'll never see that again.

Technically going into the service menu will void your warranty, however Hitachi should dispatch a tech to make the required changes to fix the HDMI bug under warranty.

That's a good price. I have not seen this in person. Anyone seen this next to a good plasma or LCD? I would expect it to be good, but not as good as a plasma or LCD

It looks good. I have the 57" version of this set.
I looked at it side by side with an LCD projection at a local electronics store. They had the Hitachi de-tuned and setup to look like crap against the LCD. I had the salesman give me the remote and I made a few picture adjustments, fixing the aspect ratio setting and tweaks via the AVSForums settings.
Then I stood back and looked at the 2 side by side and asked the guy why I would want to spend another $1,000 for the LCD.
He got pissed at me and told me because it was newer technology. I laughed at him and left.
I ended up ordering the set from circuitcity.com the next day.

Cool, I'll have to look into that.
With that issue aside, there's no reason not to buy one of these TVs... it's been so nice watching Heroes in HD on it.
