I didn't see this posted but it seems pretty good to me. The lowest price I could find elseware was about $1k.

42" @ sears

choose in-store pickup. Delivery to me (about 3 miles from the store) would be about $45.

Dude, use your sears Card and get it for $699. God, I just bought two TVs. My wife is going to kill me if I buy another. Then again, maybe I can return one.

edit: hmmmm...says 1080p HDMI inputs, but the display is only 1280*1080.

This is a great price but could this be the one that is rumored to be $599 on Black Friday? Still a great deal since the BF model may or may not be available come Friday.

I believe it takes 1080p as input but displays it as 1080i.

I got one and the price was $629.36 (the special price less 10% using a Sears card less 10% special event price) - plus sales tax.

Yes. looked hot to me. How can you go wrong for $699.29? Says 1280x1080. Shouldn't this still look pretty good with HDMI cable and Direct TV HD? The user reviews found here all stated that the quality of the pic was very good. Moreover, one less place to be on Black Friday. Isn't this still cheaper than most BF plasma, LCD TV deals on BF? People seemed pleased with the quality of pic, but not so with the sound from the TV. With the $$ saved I can get Pioneer for $109.99 or Sony STRDG510 for $99.99 on BF or a pricematch(ymmv).Just a thought.:D You thoughts? tia.

1280x1080 is almost square, assuming equal pixel width/height (I imagine this isn't..?)..how's this work?

It has HDMI so if nothing else you can use a HDMI to DVI adapter.

They're not to expensive on Monoprice.com

Not sure about a laptop but the Bestbuy one for 799 has vga input so it might be better connecting to a laptop.

1280X1080 dont seem right to me either.
1720 or 1920 X1080 is what it should be. So I have no idea what a going on here.

Instead of being square, each pixel is a rectangle, width being 1.5x the height.

The scaling engine drops the vertical resolution by 1.5x to fit the image on these wide pixels.

I had a feeling this would be OOS when I went to the store. They did not disappoint me - they couldn't even order one due to their POS (point of sale - not the OTHER pos) not allowing them to enter in an item that was out of stock at the warehouse. I politely (keyword) asked the dept manager what he could do for me. I had my eye on the Panansonic TH-42PZ77U - a true 1080P with a breath-taking picture that was on sale for $1399. I got him to knock off another $200. That minus another $110 for using the Sears CC and I got it down to $989 plus tax. I spent another $200 but I believe it was worth it. YMMV. Here's the link http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1...5597000P?keyword=75597

When opening up a new Sears card I was given the option of financing with no payment for 6 months or 10% off - apparently in addition to the 10% off for using a Sears card. No matter, when the sale rang up there were no protestations on my part. So, it was $629.36 plus $55.38 sales tax = $684.74 out-the-door.

Dead as dead can be....try and get them to give you a comparable price reduction on another set. It worked for me.

I believe it takes 1080p as input but displays it as 1080i.

Um, no.

1080p and 1080i have the exact same resolution anyways. One is interlaced, and one isn't, but on an LCD/Plasma TV, they don't display anything as interlaced, so a 1080i and a 1080p image will look exactly the same (unless your TV is seriously screwed up and can't deinterlace the picture properly)

My store sold out this afternoon just before I got there. Iasked about a substitution and they offered this for the same price. I hesitated for about a nanoscond. Happy camper here, oh yes indeedy.

edit: oops! I just read mythman's post about getting the panasonic for $989.
