Not trying to thread crap but it looks like a lot of people had problems with this drive. See user reviews HERE. Great price on a 1TB drive if it's problem free though.

OOS, but great price. Hope they get more in, I'll pick up a few.

Is there a way to stop this from powering down? Jumper on the drive?

I bought one earlier this year that stays connected 24/7. The one i bought a few weeks back does power down after an hour or 2 of inactivity.

Sounds like there are problems with the external enclosure, but for that price I would buy one and use the drive as an internal. I have not seen an internal 1TB drive for this price. If I had, I would have purchased it!

Reported that you can get them in store at this price - the 10% or 12% coupons. $176 after 12% coupon + tax = GREAT DEAL.

I can confirm this as it's exactly what I did today.

I've been debating this all day. I'm going to build a new system after the 1st of the year when the new Intel 45 nm chips arrive. At this point, I may just wait and save the money until Feb. or so. It's a great deal but there are always others. Besides, I don't really need 1TB of space but it does sound cool with the best price I've seen yet (better per GB price than most 500 GB'ers).

Yeah, I don't think I'd have gone for it at $200 (which is still a really good price), but at $176, I couldn't hold back. :D

The 10% are "around"...the 12%'s I've found are only on e-bay. Might be worth it since it's an extra $4 off.

Yes, it's a crap shoot. Also, to use the coupon, you must go to the store. Also, if there are none on the shelf, ask. Seems that the CSR's from several stores have pulled them from the back when asked (per threads at other sites).'

PS. Looks like this drive only has a 1 year warranty. FYI. The internal drive SS confirms this also from the Hitachi site.

it hit the $200 sweet spot, and is in an external case to boot. (Probably the first thing to go per reviews and statements above:)

This could solve my current case problems with running out of space with 3 320s....

Just bought one in store. Tag on the shelf was marked at $199.

10% off printed-out coupon works fine too.

anyone using this drive currently ?

how is it ?

I read reviews on bestbuy, and they didn't look too great.

something about Drive spinning up then spinning down and disconnecting on it's own.

From what I've read from other forums, this seems to be correct. The real value, IMO, is the internal drive, not the USB case. If you need/want it for external, I would avoid. If you want it for an internal drive, this deal is the hottest of any 1TB drive right now.

And If I were to crack open the case no warranty ?
