A Reisterstown man was struck by multiple vehicles and killed on Interstate 795 late Monday night after he appeared to jump from a highway overpass in Owings Mills, according to Maryland State Police.
The drivers of the vehicles that struck him did not stop.
Troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack responded to the highway at Pleasant Hill Road about 11:36 p.m. for reports of a man having jumped from the overpass into oncoming traffic and found Ronnie Sherrod Lewis, 43, fatally injured, police said.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Witnesses told police that Lewis had jumped from the bridge and was struck by multiple vehicles, but that the drivers of those vehicles did not stop.
"The vehicles that struck the body left the scene and have not been identified at this time," police said in a statement. "Vehicle parts were located on the scene and were recovered as evidence."

I thought at least one person would have stopped to steal his shoes. Society must be improving!

I just can't imagine watching a dude's head explode like a watermelon on the pavement in front of me, my front end explodes all over my windshield and I just... pick out the glass, wipe off the blood, turn the radio up, and keep on driving :D

Some days I guess that's all you can do.

Well, the moron is already dead, what else is there for them to worry about?

I might not have stopped either.

Shit... serious? Even if some moron throws himself under your vehicle and you can't avoid it, what's the harm in stopping? You save yourself the hassle in the event they actually find you later, because leaving the scene of an accident, regardless of who is at fault, is typically illegal and if you are innocent it casts doubt upon your innocence.

Even if stopping was suddenly a major hassle, causing me to miss something, I'd still stop, and call up whoever I need to with: "oh, hey, I can't make it - some moron jumped in front of my vehicle and now I have a dead body under my car."

Especially if multiple cars stopped (I honestly am shocked not a single driver stopped, if it was more than one vehicle that struck him), that would provide many voices to help clear everything up. As it stands, it definitely sounds like witnesses were around and it's quite likely someone would witness any similar event.

I can't know for sure. I just won't say that I would stop 100%.

I would have stopped if not for anything other than to get his insurance card to pay for the damages to my vehicle.

I would definitely not want to stop and render aid to a ragdoll with exploded guts spread all over the place.

In this case, it's more of a "stop because you were involved in a fatal accident" kind of thing.

Obviously the aid you could render would be next to nothing.

This or they thought they hit a deer or something.

I thinking that's what probably happened. It says it happened late night and he came from above so they probably didn't see what it was and thought it was an animal. After hearing the news they might contact to police to clear things up.

Should stop so you can get the man's information and sue the family for causing you mental distress. Hope the person who committed suicide that way rots in hell.
