1x330 Personal best!!

Yesterday my bodyweight was 169 pounds when I woke up. I fasted all day. Broke my fast at 3:30am this morning with two tins of golden smoked herring and an avocado. I'm calling this a 2x bodyweight lift, especially since I did some volume before pulling it off. I turn 30 this year on December 12. I'd like to get to 405 pounds by then.

I should add that I almost lost it forward, but I did manage to get it up and count to three before lowering it. I did not just drop it to the ground.

Nice, 2x body weight on anything is quite an accomplishment.

I just don't understand how people can lift in the mornings. Of course some people don't understand me lifting after work I guess.

I much prefer end of day lifting but on my new schedule have to lift early. I got used to it pretty quickly. As long as I have a shake immediately upon waking up, energy isn't an issue.

Whats the purpose of fasting after a heavy workout?

I fasted the day before - Friday- not after the workout today. I lifted this morning at 4:00am, and I broke my fast just prior to that at 3:30am. I see now though that the way I worded it was kind of confusing.

I much prefer lifting at the start of the day, and the earlier the better, provided I get at least five hours of sleep. I work a boring assembly line job. Lifting before such work seems to keep me stimulated mentally and physically throughout the day. I have so much more energy if I exercise in the morning.

Previously my personal best was 315, but I was about 20 pounds heavier at the time. This is the first time in a while I've tried maxing out. I'm trying to cut down to 155 pounds.

Nice mate, congrats!

I can't lift heavy in the mornings...

Koing

Hit another PR today for a 1RM and 5RM.

8x135
5x185
5x225
5x315 (5RM PR)
Fx340 (I got it up, but I don't think I quite locked it out)
1x340 (1RM PR)
Fx340

There was about 8 seconds of rest between the 3rd and 4th rep, as well as the 4th and 5th rep, but I never took my hands off the bar. I didn't really need to catch my breath. I just need to prepare myself mentally to repeat the lift.

Nice. What's your program to train the lift?

I guess I would call it a mix of Starting Strength and Strong Lifts. It's kind of transformed into two workouts:

A
Squat 5x5
Bench press 5x5
Chin-ups 3 sets to failure

B
Deadlift 1 set of five after ramping up, but sometimes I'll just do some volume at a lighter weight if I've recently maxed out.
Press 5x5
Cable pulley row 3x8

I usually alternate that every other day. I was doing LISS cardio on the days I don't lift, but I started doing HIIT this week and I think I like that better. I try to take at least one or two days of rest per week.

Thanks!! Congratulations on 5x315!! It's always great adding that next full plate, eh?!

nice work.

For me, at this weight and above the deadlift is almost counter productive as an exercise for health/fitness because it is SOO taxing and has a long recovery for me.

I've noticed this too!! This is the first time since the OP that I've tried maxing out, so just under a month now. There have been a couple of weeks where I haven't deadlifted on my B workout, and just squatted instead. If I can keep adding 10 pounds every three weeks, I'll be happy; my goal is to hit 405 by my 30th birthday in December. I'm in no rush.
