Damn, I can't get this chip above above 3230 and I have pc-8000 (1000Mhz) Firestix and the Rev 3.3 of the mobo which can get higher FSB. I've got the MCH and FSB voltages up to +0.3 and the CPU volts at 1.45. I have a Tuniq 120 so temps max out at 52 with Orthos. I can run forver stable orthos at either 8X400 or 7X455, and 9X360, but any higher and I can't boot or get errors. Would it really be so bad to up the volts to 1.5? What else can I do? I've booted into 3.4 once but that was on an older bios and I can't get it again. Not sure what's up unless I just got a crappy chip.

Having the exact same problem here with the exact same components. I'm at 1.5V VID and just finished Priming at 3.15 GHz. You know what revision of the 6600 you have? I got the "F" stepping and supposedly it's not so good. I'm trying to decide whether to sell it and rebuy or just wait until the new line of procs come out in April and pick up a cheap 6420.

Hold the presses. I just looked at a bunch of other people's posted CPU-Z's...and they all say the same thing. Even if they have A or B steppings. So I might be wrong about your CPU. You won't know unless you read the code off of the core or box.
Also, I was considering the same thing but is it really worth it? I mean the new Penryn processors will be out in April. This means you will be able to get a 6420 with 4mb L2 and a smaller, more efficient die process (45 nm?) for $183. I was thinking about selling mine for a loss but really...3200 GHz is fine for now. I will wait and see what Penryn has to offer for overclocking. All indications are that it will be better.
PS if you look at some of the overclocking databases you will see that quite a few people are running 3.2 or less even at higher volts.

I don't think the "F" (Model) in the cpu-z shot is the same thing as the F that shows on IHS. All desktop Conroe show "Model F" on cpu-z, I believe.
To the OP: Your problem is the RAM. Send me those problematic sticks and I will send you generic sticks that should be more compatible with many motherboards. 😉

Guys, the stepping is right on the back of the box.
No need to rip off your heatsinks.
I suspect your limit is either a DS3 issue (way too many potential issues w/ it, sorry), or you got likely an "F" stepping, which seem to be considerably crappier than the previous "A" or "B" ones.
I'd suggest going into a local store & looking at the boxes. Then pick teh one that says something like this:
L632B173 or even an A.
BTW, don't hate me, but i'm currently running Orthos blend @ 1.3625V bios/1.3V actual under load w/ my new "B" E6600 @ 3500 MHz :Q
