HIS X1800GTO $198 AR

Great deal!
I wouldn't upgrade if I had a 7800GT to this, even a 6800GT, but this is an awesome price for those with PCIE.

in 4 1.
Where do You guys see 2nd rebate???

BTW Monarch.com is cheaper - $244.xx shipped before rebate. Plus I think newegg charges tax in CA.

So any experience with unlocking this card??? I ordered it and If it's not unlockable - I don't really need it.

I was able to unlocked it after a few try (didn't work with winflash 1.10). I use winflash 1.05 and the force option. I flashed with the saphire x1800xl bios (from techpowerup.com). ATItool post 16 pipe and GB_PIPE_SELECT changed from 0x27E4 to 0x3FE4. But somehow not that much performance gain, although any gain is always welcomed. 😀 will run a few more test and post results.

EDIT: 7299 3dmark05 with 16 pipes 500 core/500 mem
7819 3dmark05 with 16 pipes 535 core/540 mem (max stable)

then it's a 7600GT, which is cheaper

In most non AA/AF situations a stock X1800GTO is equivalent to a 7600GS at 500/900, which is a $100 card. The 7600GT @ $165-170 (some with free GRAW) beats it more than 50% of the time. And based on the small increases people are getting in a trivial bench like 3dMark, it really wouldn't surprise me if the 7600GT was still faster even after the X1800GTO was "unlocked". But I guess we won't know until people start posting actual benchmarks, link.
