I had to call for my last HIS rebate. Then only after escalating to a 2nd manager, received the rebate. They suck.

Are you kidding me with this? Has anyone been watching these 4870's? I really blew it. I'm pretty good with researching stuff and I hit these terribly. I bought about a month and a half ago. That HIS card has literally dropped from over $200 to this price in 5 weeks. It was getting down to $189 after rebate when I began buying it. Now all of a sudden the bottom has fallen out as prices are hitting $130's and $140's. That's like 40% in 2 months.

Nvidia should be cutting prices this week to coincide with the release of the GTX 240 and GTX 250 which should help drive ATI prices down as well.

kinda odd that prices are dropping now...isn't it at least another month until the HD4890 is released?

i think there's a price war going on here plus weakened sales in this economy plus 40nm parts are coming in about 2-3months time. i think i would wait for 40nm, even if i am buying older parts, things will be dirt cheap when 40s are introduced into the mix.

very good chance it's fire sale time, and there will be 1 or 2 less companies selling vid cards in a few months...

and it looks like deal is dead... base prices back up...
