Hey, I've been working at a well known company in St. Louis that owns a big backbone and hosts a lot of high end web sites... They are hiring for hosting tech support, among other things... The jobs pay $10 an hour on up (probably higher if you have qualifications)... If anybody is interested, shoot me a PM with your resume and I will tell you more about it.. You can apply online, but that just gets pushed into a database.. I can take your resume directly to the hiring manager....

What's the general cost of living out there?

St. Louis is really an interesting place, lots to do & a great Local Music Scene.

Not too expensive to live there either, depending on your budget - Beer Vs. Champagne.

Racially diverse culture - a little bit of everyone.

Outstanding culture offered at the Art Museum & the Muny.

Like the Captain said, you can find something in your price range, whatever it is. Move to Ladue and you can easily blow tens of millions on a house. Where I live, ~$500/month for an apartment is about right. I personally pay $230/month, as do my two roommates ($700/month total for 3 bedrooms). If you're really interested, PM me and I can point you to somewhere that will probably suit your budget.

There is a lot of industry in St. Louis... many corporate headquarters there. Plus, that Arch is damn cool.

I'm in St. Louis, too - and I'll echo their sentiments.

There are great things in most corners of this city - good food, good culture, good music. The cost of living is on the low end of large cities - apartments abound in the $300 range and there are $1400/month apartments not a half mile from here. Houses too run the gamut, from sub-$60k houses in more urban areas on up.

You would also be only 6-8 hours (depending on how you drive) from one of the greatest citys, Chicago:)

lol :) I was wondering how long it'd take somebody to mention that.

One thing though - Don't plan on going to any baseball games. Not this year, at least. We just built a new stadium, and I believe everything but standing-room-only tickets are sold out :Q

OK - I'll raise the ante: Mississippi Nights

Blueberry Hill

Just about anything else on Delmar near Wash-U

Saint Louis Bread Company

Slam it

Cram it

Ram it

Have been contemplating retiring to a beach in Florida, but there is so much more to do in St. Loo.
Get a 2 bedroom place about a block off of South Grand near Juniata - just Soutth of Tower Grove Park . . .

Hey! Chicago has another team, one that I think just won the world series last year : )
Actually some of us think that Chicago only has one TEAM, and another group that just go to a ball park to hang out for the season. You guess which is which!
