After 3 weeks interviewing I was offered an intermediate graphic design position with a company downtown Toronto, it's an in-house position for a retailer. I'm pretty excited about this, it will be nice to get off employment insurance, especially since my claimable amount is always $0.00 since I work freelance.

Orientation on Friday, start on the 8th, :cookie: for me :D

I don't get it, for something like graphic design, isn't being freelance more desirable (assuming you're good at it)? More flexible/better pay?

Congrats! Hows the GD market up in Canada? I'm currently in school for GD and I'm a little scared how the job market is going to look in ~2 years.

I do both, freelance is great but it's really unstable at times. I prefer it as tertiary income, I also really enjoy working -with- people and not just clients. Best of both worlds this way.

I've had lots of work, but I know some people who are struggling. Like any area right now it's a bit down, probably will be fine when you're looking though unless the economy doesn't pick back up.
