Hi All,
I am now in the market to replace my Skyhawk 520 ps with a good power supply.
I found this one:"HIPER HPU-4B580-MS ATX12V 580W Power Supply" and was looking for some real life info. I did a search but didn't fine much.
Thanks

Coolermaster doesn't make very good PSUs, and for cheap you can get one that is much better. So I don't see why not.

What?!?!

The Cooler Master Real Power 550 is made by Acbel and the Cooler Master eXtreme Power 600W is made by SevenTeam. Two VERY good OEM's.

The Hiper is made by Andyson. Another good OEM. But it's a 550W relabeled as a 580W, has no APFC (Cooler Master RP500w does,) isn't as efficienct (about 75 to 80% realistically) and the modular cable connection design is flawed (one wire split to two.)

Hi All,
Just want to thank you all for your input. After reading many many reviews and your opinions, I have decided to go with the "CoolerMaster RS 550 ACLY".
It was a tough desion because I did my homework and then someone comes buy with a neg comment about that item because they might of got a defected one, then you second guess yourself. I know how that is, I had bought a Enermax that cost some $$ and after a week it was dead. I know they make good PS, but now I think twice about buying them again.
Well anyways thaks again it should go good with my CoolerMaster Wave case.

That is a Hiper Type R PSU model ,link, which is very good, few points I like to add, efficiency is around 73% which is not bad(taken from a recent review) and the European versions have APFC,not sure why the US models don't have, mine is UK version(going strong with no problems for 10 months so far) which does have APFC.

Anyway glad you got yourself a good PSU (regardless of brand).

That Hiper model is a very solid PSU. Hiper has a real good rep in Europe, and only recently did they venture into the US market.

As Mem stated, the US version lacks the APFC that the European version has, but PCF, active or passive, should not be of any concern when buying PSU's. It does nothing for the owner, it actually only helps your local power company. PFC is required in europe, but not in the US, so I'm guessing they saved a few bucks by making a PSU without it.
