Yes, there are several examples of how hip hop is struggling to keep alive. The quantity of good hip hop being put out today has nothing on the amount put out in the nineties.

A heads up, Pharoah Monch released a new album a few weeks ago, I had no idea about this until I stumbled on it last night. It doesn't appear to be a mix tape, if it is it definitely sounds like a real studio album with original beats and everything. Amazon has it for $2.99 right now, I'm assuming this is a special price. Monch is crazy and $2.99 makes it a no brainer.
