What I'm saying is that people in the U.S. are so scared of being accused of racism that it is ruining life. There is ONE black guy where I work who has his head screwed on straight. He is EXTREMELY intelligent, speaks elloquently, and dresses respectably. I respect him quite a bit because he has chosen not to turn into some crappy talking "thug" and doesn't go around expecting to be treated better than others because he's black. He doesn't go up to other blacks and go "wussup niggah!" like the rest of them do (seriously, they do). However, I have heard so much garbage at work by other blacks about how they deserve this and that because they're black and how they're treated poorly (no better than anyone else at work, though) because they're black, etc. The funny thing is that I haven't heard ONE SINGLE white person bitch about how they're treated because they're white. Hell, I haven't heard anyone complaining because of race AT ALL at my work, other than the blacks. And you know what happens? My talking of the guy was basically to show that I'm not completely blind and a complete "racist" as some would call me. I know there are PLENTY of blacks out there like Keyon, and that's great. I just severely detest the whole BET/blacks-only/racist bullsh|t that goes on. I, myself, am too afraid of the "political" consequences of telling them that they're full of sh|t, but I don't hesitate when I find a white person who does the same thing. They get both barrels. But, because the blacks have WAY more pull, simply because they're black, I'm not about to lose my job because I spout off to management that they're racially prejudice.

being on the complained to side of things I can honestly say what was complained about and subsequently solved is a lot different than how other's perceived it, especially if the solution now makes their 'work lives' not as fun/easy.

I have had one 'black' man complain about something only to have a meeting later on about how we did not decide to cater to one person because his race was 'different' (all the rest of the people were white) and the problem was indeed a problem (I can't even remember what it was now).

I also had about 5 women complain en masse about things on other's desks that were indeed off color and inappropriate....again 'women get what they want and can do what they want'. The women had flowers and relative pictures on their desks, the 'kids' on the floor argued that swimsuit type shots were pictures and one asshat tried to claim she was a relative of his and he was trying to promote her career?!? Either way swimsuits aren't appropriate and neither was solicitation or promotion of non-work related items (including but not limited to charity, political campaigns, etc) We had a nice employee manual online I could just zap pages to others via email with.

I am willing to bet that so called 'group of blacks' that hang out together didn't change things without the company having good reasons to do so. Have you ever (honestly, because everyone always says yes to this) tried to mingle in with their crowd? Have you ever excluded them where everyone on the floor/section but them were part of something (whether for the company or not)....I had these kinds of issues to deal with all the time....everyone goes to lunch together and left our 1 black employee behind....again extremely hard situation to handle (I couldn't order employees to bring him along and even if I could I don't think that would make him feel comfortable) but definitely the guy was not the problem...so I started having lunch with him and then people started realizing he was pretty cool.

I have also been cried to that 'as a black/indian/asian/white (woman) whatever worker blah blah blah and you know you cannot discriminate blah blah blah'. We had a video that showed examples for discrimination and harassment usually after their required viewing of that video, they'd drop whatever their racial/harassment issue was because they became educated that just because you are different you are not special.

I sometimes think management is glorified babysitting....although I do sometimes miss my much fatter paychecks (I am getting closer to them though ), I don't miss the drama and gossip.

There are Korean, Turkish, and Spanish only language networks out here. In the Bay area there are Japanese and Chinese only language networks. Are those racists? What is the big deal?

I guess I just don't like segregation between races. That's all we're talking about here: race. Not age, not sex, etc. I don't like the fact that there's a women's-only channel because the programming sucks. I don't like some of the men's-only channel because it's degrading to women. The whole BET thing I hear all the time though "the black people are racist, look, they have their own BLACK's ONLY tv station, if we made a WHITE'S ONLY station they'd all be ticked. What about if we went back to WHITE only buses and schools?" It's comical and sick how racist these 'pots calling the kettle black' [pun intended] are.....they see how they see things if they did it and not the intended outcome.

The white race is quickly becoming a minority....soon I am sure we will see more Asian-type programming (one it's trendy now it seems), we have Iron Chef, tons of Japanime...movies, toys, etc.

Dont forget that extreme challenge in Taiwan. I love that show, i want to be a contestant
