Hillary the Neocon. How is the Left going to package and sell her?

Let's play Rumsfeld!

Like her Republican brethren Hillary believes we ought to meddle because we can pick the winners and manipulate them to do our bidding. That's almost never worked, and of course she knows that doing what she suggests wouldn't backfire. It's like she's channeling Cheney and will make a great playmate for McCain and his buddies.

I don't trust her any more than I trust the Old Guard of the Bush days, but if she runs I can't imagine her losing and so the Left and Progressives are going to have to spin her. Besides "well at least she isn't Bush" just how are they going to pull this one off? Just how hard will they oppose her or will they just forget the past and get behind her and push?

This should be an interesting sell.

The "Left" isn't going to be packaging her as the "Left" has pretty much nothing to do with her.

What little "Left" there is in the Democratic Party will be once again wondering why no one is ever listening to them.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks either of the Clintons are "leftists" is living in 'cloud cuckoo land'.

It's funny you should say that because people who declare themselves part of the left will get behind her and push to keep a Republican out of office. One very verbose progressive went to great lengths expounding on the virtues of someone who has absolutely no interest in him or people like him. You can believe this person is very left leaning.

It would be nice if there were a serious alternative to Hillary, but politics being what they are I doubt there is. The last candidate who seriously challenged the political machine ultimately lost to Kerry who has been amply rewarded for his loyalty.

In some ways this might be harder for some Democrats than Republicans when their time comes because I doubt any one candidate they could come up with would overshadow the field like Hillary would.

I'm hoping that Neocon MKII won't get the nod, but I'm afraid she will and the apologists will line up if the time comes.

What is Warren's stance on foreign policy? I can't think of anyone else who has a chance against Ms. Clinton.

Painting Hillary as a Neocon just makes foreign policy a near wash. Which means that there's more contrast around other issues.

The great thing about modern Republicanism is that they get over by tearing down the opposition rather than building up what they've got. Must be tough to build on that, I suppose, given the choices. Tell us what's great about any of these choices-

Hillary vs Jeb. Beyond depressing. But we are no longer a democracy. Only an oligarchy.

But even if the names were new, it is still the same old corrupt machinery on both sides

What she believes in, stands for, or does, is of no importance. All that matters is that she mouths the appropriate platitudes. The D's will love her, the R's will hate her, and the system will have worked again.

I've no fear of Hillary becoming President. She is far too old to stand up to a debate.

Analysis of the debates shows that they have almost zero effect on the outcome.

Hillary isn't the person I would choose, but until the republicans start running sane candidates again there's simply no question that I would vote for her over them.

That is true. Just like it is immaterial what Obama believes in (to the extent that any politician believes in anything, or even capable of). These are just faces on the same old system, same old machinery, both domestic and foreign.

There was this great segment in The Daily Show recently blasting the potential Hillary vs Jeb match up and the whole dynastic politics

Talk of packaging and selling politicians is pretty common, but just because a politician has a vagina it is somehow a sexist phrase?

Truth be told I don't care about his comment although he might be foreshadowing responses. Politicians are marketed and sold and that they are female makes no difference.
