Hillary Clinton wanted to be a lot of things when she was young

Dari

Lifer
I read last year she wanted to be a Baptist minister.

Then I read she wanted to be an astronaut but she was told there was no place for women.

Now I'm reading in The Economist that she wanted to be a marine during Vietnam but was turned away because of poor eyesight(link).

What's next, she wanted to be a cop but was told to stay in the kitchen?

I guess it's easy to say these things and get the sympathy vote but I really find them all hard to believe. Something isn't right about these claims. They seem to imply that there has always been this gigantic glass ceiling over her head and she's always tried to break it but came away saddened (but determined?). Has anyone bothered to check them out?

As a young man, during the past four years I have seriously considered becoming:
An airman in the U.S. military
A lawyer
Airline pilot
U.S. Army Warrant Officer
College professor
Restaurateur
Freelance journalist
English teacher
Chef
Peace corps volunteer

..and probably much more that I can't think of right now. My point is people want to be a lot of things and I wouldn't look too much into it.

I hope she can next write that she wanted to be POTUS but ran a bitter and nasty campaign and it backfired.

Considering they are claims that she can easily makeup I doubt people will bother looking them up. I'm just annoyed by them. They could be white lies.

So she changed her mind and became a Corrupt Lawyer, and a socialist, and a bitch. And now she wants to be president....lol

Would have been nice to see mother or wife on the list, but I'm not really surprised at their absence.

wow. this might be a whole new level of HDS.

😕 How many of these sob stories can one nation take?

people wanting to be things when they grow up is a sob story?

Come on, do you really believe she tried to become a Marine but was turned away? If it really happened, how come this is the first time we're hearing about it? Wouldn't it be in her books?

would it really be in the history books if she walked past a recruiter and was turned away because she was wearing glasses?

I thought about going into the military once, but a vet friend said I shouldn't bother because I've only got one eye. I don't think there's written documentation of that anywhere.

She is the wife of a two-term President who skipped Vietnam by making up some excuse. She was of age when Vietnam was going strong and could've been drafted. One would think her trying to become a Marine would be in one of her books, perhaps next to the line about her being named after the guy who climbed Mt. Everest. I seriously doubt she tried to join.

Heh, if you find her claims so annoying, why don't you check them out. Everyone else have a life you know. See I don't doubt her story because of people like you, who hates her with a passion when she has done nothing to you people to deserve it. It seems like lots of man can't tolerate women who wants to be something, who is outspoken. There are plenty of male politicians who claim to be what they are not, buy hey, no one talks about them. But hey when it's Hillary, oh it's murder.

You know nothing about me yet you have the gumption to make that statement? You must be feeling good now, right?

Sure I know nothing about you, but I can read and I can infer your feeling for Hillary from the fact that you feel the need to post stuff like this based on an article that's not even about her.

The article is about her and the other candidate. Besides, who cares who the article is about considering I focused on a part that was similar to other stories I've heard about her. You seem a bit sensitive about Sen. Clinton.

LOL quite a smart political move actually, if I say so myself.

wanting to be a baptist minister: appeal to the religious types
wanting to be an astranaut: make her look smart
wanting to be a marine: appeal to the nationalists who want to sacrifice their lives for USA (god bless them! (no sarcasm))

Yeah, the hate for Ms Clinton has reached ridiculous levels as shown by this thread.

Listen, when Mrs. Clinton decided it was fair game (and a good idea) to go snooping around in Obama's Kindergarten files...
