Suppressing this as "cultural appropriation" guarantees these cultural things will die in obscurity.

In 100 years, history may forget that feathered headdresses were ever a thing associated with native Americans.

No kidding. And how nice of him to get offended on others' behalf!

Professional victims.

And yet you guys can't see how you're doing the exact same thing by saying Duff shouldn't apologize. Maybe she wants to apologize because she's actually genuinely sorry?

Rabble rabble, "we're so fucking outraged about people being outraged, people need to STFU and keep their opinions to themselves!" Well unless its you apparently because the only thing people trumpeting that horseshit lack more than understanding of irony (or hypocrisy) is logic.

The best part is how you will say that it doesn't matter but somehow is actually doing a positive. Its like saying "without the KKK around we'd have already forgotten about racism" but then we also know that some of you think racism doesn't exist any more, and if it does then you as white males are actually the most discriminated against of anyone.

Plus, let's be honest the OP is just mad because this ruined his jerk-off session of leering at her pics. The only thing I'm actually surprised at in this thread is that most of you didn't immediately start debating how much you'd be willing to fuck her.

This

And this

We shouldn't have to live our lives to appease the whims of the hypersensitive. They need to grow the F up. And it would really help matters if people were actually aware of history. The PILGRIMS actually enjoyed a peaceful relationship with the local Native Americans. It was groups that came after that messed things up.

Political correctness - a gift from the retarded left that keeps on giving.

If there's anyone that needs to learn history it would be you. The pilgrims were not exactly as peaceful as you seem to believe. You know Squanto? The reason he became acclimated to them was because they tried to make him a slave. Yep, real peaceful. Also I take it you haven't heard of King Philip's War? If you're going to lecture people about knowing history it helps to know what the fuck you're talking about.

Whining about political correctness - the proof that the person saying it doesn't know what they're talking about but will certainly claim to. The only thing more certain is that they'll let you know how outraged they are about other people being outraged. See also: hypocrite.

I can see why you think people, especially the descendants of those groups, are "hypersensitive" as based on your knowledge of pilgrim history, you know about as much as you learned in what 1st grade history, so anything more complex must come off as hyper awareness.

You know you're actually highlighting exactly why people are complaining? Its specifically because you only want the horseshit whitewashed history that you were taught to be the defacto standard of how those are represented.

Outrage over cultural appropriation ? Haha ! Those poor babies ! The nipple is gone eh ?

More twitter drivel I'll bet. Be glad when that nihilistic forum for sociopaths goes the way of the Vine.

Can we approach reality now ? Anyone with half a brain knows that imitation is a high form of flattery. The Cleveland Indians, Washington Redskins, Chicago Black Hawks and some stud in a Cheyenne rain maker headress with crayon mask, what they all do ? They revive and celebrate an otherwise moribund culture, they don't appropriate it.

Secondly one must sadly admit, that one cannot appropriate what was expropriated years ago.

The nipple is gone. Live with it or cry forever.

Based on your post, no you really can't seem to approach reality. Yes, because they're imitating them. (Seriously, WTF you can't seriously believe that can you?) Well actually, the Redskins were literally named after a white guy that pretended to be Native American, so I guess you could argue by defending random jackasses crying about their right to dress up in redface, woop in a drunken stupor, and tomahawk chop you really are just imitating them. Damn, you got me there.

What they all do? Probably talk not like a caveman? Actually that's insensitive to cavemen, who undoubtedly were far more intelligent than you seem to be.

Speaking of half a brain. Do you even listen to yourself?

Suppressing this as "cultural appropriation" guarantees these cultural things will die in obscurity.

In 100 years, history may forget that feathered headdresses were ever a thing associated with native Americans.

Yep, making it so that the only way people are aware of a culture is to make them into costumes, even better "sexy" costumes, to be worn celebrating another appropriated holiday (that has nothing at all to do with either culture in how its practiced, and I'm guessing the Pilgrims would have been big fans of Halloween...) that's the real way you let culture not die in obscurity. Holy shit, I know you're more intelligent than to believe that nonsense.

Hmm, now why would that be? Because random assholes make them about sports teams (that often have literally nothing other than being in the general vicinity of where those groups once lived) or dress up in them so they can go and get drunk at a party? But, you just said that will just enhance people's understanding of those cultures? You certainly learn a lot about those cultures from how those groups and people use them.

Someone was triggered...

Either way its not like the tribe that actually wore feathered headdresses didn't take it from either either neighboring tribes or and an older grouper that has long since been wiped out. Such things are more than a little common throughout history... So yes they culturally appropriated it earlier.

Buncha BS.

I'm a very small part Native American myself, I've always liked the fact they are represented by sports teams, etc.

no attractive woman should ever be shamed into not wearing sexy/slutty Halloween costumes.

For a corollary of how bad the whole Political Correctness thing is, look at Pirates.

Everyone dresses up as Pirates. You have kids aged 4 who dress up as Pirates. They wear the eyepatch, the hat, carry a cutlass and talk in a manner that probably mocks how pirates really spoke.

It gets worse - not only is it technically cultural appropriation, but people are imitating some of the worst criminals who ever lived. Men who literally raped and plundered their way across the oceans and definitely traded in slaves. A lot of them probably kept slaves when it was convenient.

Pirates were not nice people, and were definitely, as a group, far worse than Pilgrims ever were.

Yet nobody complains about this, even though pirates technically still exist today and piracy, in its original definition, still occurs. Why? Simply because pirates are not a protected group and thus no one gives a damn.

Sorry, moron, but Squanto was made a slave before the Pilgrims came to North America. He was captured and sold in Spain. He eventually wound up with the Brits and was taken back to North America to aid in trade with the Brits as a condition for his freedom. The Pilgrims DID NOT try to make him a slave. Given that you started off with such blithering ignorance, I didn't even bother to read the rest of your mindless drivel.

I'm sure she has 2 brain cells to rub together (i could be giving too much credit) than she would have known before hand that maybe it was an issue and therefore chose a different PC costume. She isn't sorry or she wouldn't have done it in the first place. Her pussy publicist talked her into it for the sake of the PC police.

Own your costume and fire you publicist for being a pussy and give the PC pussies the middle finger. That what i would do :)

It sounded more like her publicist was panicked and made her apologize.

Am pretty sure thats exactly what happened. And I feel sorry for her. She's a celeb trying to keep her career so she can support her family which means she's gotta play the P.C. nonsense with the media.

The Pilgrims did not try to enslave Squanto. Matter of fact a tribe captured Squanto and the Pilgrims put together a possy and went and rescued him. He was captured long before the Pilgrims and traveled across the Atlantic a few times were he learned to speak English but the Pilgrims liked him.

You're the one that needs to learn their history....

Oh big fucking deal, so she had to apologize... who cares?
It's indicative of the decline of America, see? "First the PC Police came for dumb hos in underwear and I said nothing because I was not a dumb ho in underwear," blah blah, Hillary did ISIS. Also, Obama wants to abort your babies to make more room for even more Muslim terrorists like himself.

You forgot the part where you're forced to gay marry a pre-op transsexual in the bathroom.

I'd tried to block it out, because it's even worse than that. You have to get gay married in the WRONG bathroom!
