The Pilgrims did not try to enslave Squanto. Matter of fact a tribe captured Squanto and the Pilgrims put together a possy and went and rescued him. He was captured long before the Pilgrims and traveled across the Atlantic a few times were he learned to speak English but the Pilgrims liked him.
