Hijacking Attempt on El Al Flight Foiled

Seriously how dumb is that guy. El Al has armed guards on every flight....

No kidding... 🙂

Trying to hijack an El Al flight without being armed is like trying to rob a police station while naked and unarmed...

Stupid...

I am not sure that they have confirmed that he actually did have a knife. El-Al gives everyone espeically Arabs a through screening and Ben-Gurion has the tightest security in the world. I think this will turn out to be some nutcase not someone with links to terroists.

That's exactly was my first question. I'm still amazed how quickly they dealt with that guy. Here is the link with more information:

Oh, the guy obviously just wanted attention, there was no way - he had zero chance. And on a related note, I HATE how people have to copycat the latest freaks, you know? I hate that all of a sudden it's a freakin' nightmare to fly anywhere because all of these idiots have learned a new trick.

yours and mine, too 😕

Of course we have to realize that no security is 100% foolproof even El-Al. That's why you don't rely on any one method of security, you build layers of security and backups. In this case the last line of defense (the air marshalls) worked. I'm pretty sure this was just some nut.

I hope it was some nut as you said. It also could have been a "pawn" for lack of a better word. A guy tries it so others, or even he himself can scout out how El Al responds to such attempts so that they can try it again. Doubtful, but possible.

What I don't get is how we can even call it a "Hijacking Attempt". More like "Lone Nutjob Pulls Stupid Stunt". C'mon, hijacking a plane with one guy? No explosives, hidden or otherwise. I think the guy just had a few screws loose.
