"Highly Technical Brouhaha" forum?

<Stolen Mercilessly from Soccerman>

<< One thing that IMHO can be done to attract more users to these forums is to make one forum for highly technical discussion.. things like, how exactly compression works (or new ways of compressing the data), or how video cards work (or certain techniques of doing things on video cards). The more knowledge that is shared on these forums, the smarter the population is (hey I learned ALOT from BenSkywalker and DaveB3D), the better! >>

I just saw this in the GH forum (posted by Soccerman) and I think it's a great idea. I know Aces has a great technical forum, but I like AT better. 😉 Zuni? Whattayathink?

WTH....I can't seem to find the Highly Technical thread in current messages or the archive....it must have gotten deleted.

Anyway, here's the gist of it: Around 1 1/2 months ago, Wingz suggested the creation of a technical forum...it was a topic of great debate, but there was a lot of support behind it (it reached almost 120 posts!...probably a record for Forum Issues). Last week or so, Anand posted in a thread in GH that he was working on a technical forum, so keep your fingers crossed. 🙂

Last I heard Anand was working w/Zuni on it and it was supposed to be pretty close to completion 🙂

There are quite a few of us that are eagerly awaiting the HT forum.

i am all for this, and look forward to reading thie highlevel "geek" talk, but anyone wanna take bets on how long it will take for the first highly technical flame war to begin?

5 weeks is my guess.

Flamewars? I think THE idea behind the high tech forum area is to separate real discussion from the "MY AMD RULEZ YUOR PENTUIM!" in General Hardware. Last I heard, this new forum is going to be heavily moderated.
I still wonder what's holding up the works? 🙂

HEY! Where's that thread? I guess it was taking up too much space in Forum Issues. 😉
