I'm looking for really good speakers to go with my Hercules GTXP. I want them to sound as good and as clear as possible, i'm not looking for loud bass (So I guess Klipsch is ruled out). Any suggestions?

" i'm not looking for loud bass (So I guess Klipsch is ruled out)"

It's only as loud as you want it, you should go to a store or a friend's house who has them so you can actually play with them and hear for yourself.

Hmmm...not looking for "loud" bass but you want the "highest quality speakers". Don't confuse loud bass with strong powerful bass. Actually, I have never heard anyone refer to bass as loud.

The Kilpsch are awesome speakers for both gaming and audio (DVD/MP3 etc.). Don't sell yourself short, check them out.

Klipsch all the way!

You know you can turn down the bass if you so desire!
These are the best speakers out there!

DisinfectedDuck, listen to the people that have Klipsch speakers, rather than those that parrot the same tired lines like "they're too boomy, they're too bright, etc."

The Klipsch speakers are only as bassy as you want them to be. I have the ProMedia 2.1's, and my first impression was what many relate - too much bass, too bright. But, after tweaking both my SBLive Mixer settings and Winamp's equalizer, I'm very pleased w/ them.

Get a high end headphone if you live in apt.
I can't seems to enjoy my speaker without my neighbour banging
on my door :)

I swear that if I lower the speaker again, I couldn't hear a thing.
Now I set the bass to the lowest level and it sound like a $10 speaker.

I love the promedia 4.1 though, if I can skip lunch and go home and crank up the volume and bass a bit.

I love it when people tell someone else to get a speaker and then "fix" it by using a equalizer. Just get good speakers in the first place. Whenever you add a processor into the circuit you're always going to create noise and distortion.

My advice is if the Klipsche are too bright, get a different set of speakers.

BTW.. I have about given up on pc speakers. I think I'm just going to buy whatever I can get a great deal on. I've come to the realization that none of them are going to live up to my standards for sound quality.

I don't like the v.2-400s because they have piss poor midrange.

I've never heard the newer ProMedia 4.1 though and they are suppose to fix the midrange problems. So you might want to give those a listen if you can find a place in your country (Israel was it?) to try them.

I would never put out money for the ProMedia v.2-400, I think they are awful speakers. But I would like to hear the ProMedia 4.1 because they have address IMO what the biggest problem of the v.2-400s was.

If you are looking for something cheaper give the Boston Accoustics BA4800 a try. They are not as loud as the ProMedias, but they are quite loud enough for most people. They have very clear well defined bass, and an excellent midrange response. They also have the best high range I've ever heard in a system without a separate tweeter.

I can't compare them to the Klipsch fairly because I personally hate Horn Loaded tweaters. Some people love them, a friend of mine has some Klipsch home theatre stuff, and I hate it because of the horns but he thinks they are amazing for sound quality.

<edit>I should fairly add that most people can't tell the difference between horn loaded and regular tweaters enough to really care either way, and in most circumstances a separate tweater is better than not, regardless of the tweaters form (I say most circumstance becuase sometimes it won't matter, not because no tweater can be better than a separate one, it can't), so likely you would prefer the highrange response of the Klipsch to the BAs. Most people do (and rightly so)</edit>

If you don't mind spending the $300US I'd give the ProMedia 4.1s a try. I still personally don't like the Horn Tweater, but that's a personal thing and not really a general strike against the ProMedias.

If you want something cheaper check out the BA4800, I know very few people who have been dissapointed by the BA4800s.

Sound quality is a very personal thing...as I said I personally hate horned tweaters, most people can't tell the difference and many people really like them. The best thing to do is listen to the speakers.

If you really have money to burn, check out the VideoLogic Sirocco Crossfires. They are louder than the ProMedias, have lower frequency tighter bass, perfect clean midrange resposne and excellent highs with a separate non-horn loaded tweaters.

To steal a line from Anand Video Logic is the Ferrari of computer speakers. But weighing in at $450-500 makes them a little ridiculous since you can get into a basic home theatre setup for that price.
However since you are already in Europe you might be able to get Video Logic sets cheaper than we can in the US (VL is a European company).

Salvador, that was the point I was trying to make. W/ the Boston Acoustics MicroMedia's I found I had to excessively tweak both the SBLive mixer and Winamp EQ to get the sound I wanted (and I don't like exagerrated sound). W/ the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's I found I wanted/had to normalize both the mixer and EQ to get the desired sound.
