I once tried counting sheep to fall asleep. Got up to 1000 before I gave up.

I prefer counting sleeping sheeple. Once I get to eleventy billion, the world always gets destroyed by aliens and Niburu.

To fall asleep try this: Build a impenetrable castle or fortress in your mind.

Imagine a perfect location, something that could potentially provide food and water during a long siege. Then start to design the keep: think about what would be inside the walls, where it would be, how many levels the castle would have. Think about where you would keep your troops, and your personal guard. How many taverns and inns would you allow inside the castle walls, or would you make them all stay outside? Imagine the flow of people milling about.

Try to create everything in the greatest detail, and imagine vivid mental pictures of your plans.

You'll never finish.

Trust me - I've done it hundreds of times, if not thousands, and I've never competed a single one.

Counting is easy when you go

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 TEN 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 TWENTY 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 THIRTY etc.

instead of going twenty two twenty three twenty four, etc.

You can probably count to 200 using the above in under a minute.

When I was in 4th grade, I had a contest with another student and we hand wrote to around 11,000 or so, one number at a time.

Well, I've been staring at this for a few minutes and it's up to 821. Does that count as counting?
