I'm thinking of milking more juice out of my CPU and trying for 3.4-3.5 GHz... but will I even see an increase in fps in real world games?

Stalker, world in conflict, medieval 2, cod4, etc.....

How about moving to an E8400 and clocking it to 4.0 GHz?

Maybe in World in Conflict, but I doubt that you will notice a difference in the rest of them. Stalker and COD4 run without any noticable slowdowns on my system, and I have a much slower system than you do.

I doubt you'd see much change. What resolution do you play at, what are your graphics settings, and do any of your games feel slow?

If so, do they speed up when you turn the graphics settings down?
