HIGH temps in Leadtek 6800

My Rig:
AMD64 Winchester 3000+ OC'ed 2400
A8V Deluxe
Cosair 1gb Value
Leadtek 6800 OC'ed 435/900

My temps hit 80 degrees celcius under 3d loads and im sure it will keep going. The huge stock copper cooling for leadtek is said to be one of the best. The softmod is true too. I could enable all 16 pipelines but it would turn out to be unstable for some games. That would also increase temps. But it still hits 80 with only 12 pipelines.

Anyway i can decrease the temp? Heard artic silencer might help, it any good?

You could run it at spec and get 70 degrees?

Exactly. I've got the 6800GT from Leadtek and it will hit the mid 80's sometimes while I'm playing CS:S or some other hard games on it.

Nothing to be worried about. Stop OCing it if you want to be worry free, but don't return it if it bunks out on you. You already voided the warrenty 🙂

Also, the XTreme-G 76.10 drivers (or any of the ForceWare 75 drivers, I believe) don't have that temp bug, so give those a try if you're so inclined.

The copper cooler is good although the fan isn't fast. The cooling is superb for non-oc'ers who want quiet reliable cooling.

Im currently with the X-Treme G 76.1 drivers.
Idle Temp is ~55 degrees celcius.
Im currently testing the temp out with Far Cry.
Even with WoW that doesn't put heavy load on GPU, it goes all the way to 80.

Screenshots coming soon.

I had a 6800Gt that according to nVida monitor it would run in the 90s celsius. Same with my current card. ATITool says it hits mid to upper 90s when playing HL2 or any other heavy 3d use.

Just got a Leadtek 6800gt today. Put it in my rig and ran rthdribl. Under load it would hit 77C and stay there. It idles around 60C. I touched the hsf while under load and I could feel it warm. I havent overclocked it yet, but I may if these temps are safe. Anyone know what kinda temps are safe for this card?

I got that card, and it would idle at 55-58, bout 70 under load when i got it. It has been increasing in temp slowly over time, and had been idleing today at 68. I decided to check out my card, as i though it was odd. Low and behold, the intake for the heatsing was COVERED w/ dust, so i just vacumed it off, back to idleing at 56 right now, i would check it out. BTW, i dont overclock. Funny how i see this the day i discovered what was wrong w/ mine 🙂.

Edit : thought i'd add that i have the 6900gt version of the leadtek.
6800gt*

My temp should be pretty good then for a 6800NU. I overclock and yet it idles around ~55 and ~75 under heavy load. Looks good to me. Anyone tried unlocking the 16pipelines with Rivatuner? I could unlock mine but it proved to be unstable for some games.

my 6800 ultra hits 105 celcius 🙁 at first it hit 95 now 105 i even tightened the HSF more and still it reaches 105, and i get artifacts at 425/1100, im going to rma the POS. plus its a 1 slot asus 6800u so it would be normal to have higher temps than other 2 slot 6800u.
