High School 'Sex Quiz' goes too far?

The bigger question here is, who sets the standards for what's acceptable in the classroom? The parents complained and it appears that the school system agreed. Now I know that many here know with certainty that they were wrong.

So who within a community makes these decisions? Who sets the standards for a given school system?

There should be input from all levels including parents, students, community, state, and national. There are legitimate reasons for each.

let's break down the hypocrisy outrage:

- Sarah Palin's (your holy broad) daughter is a whore. She is a wedlock girl. (Hmm maybe the slut wouldn't have been one had she taken an AP psych class? lol)

- 70% of US high school kids have had sex by the time they graduate (90% by the time they finish freshman year in college).

- Porn industry is the biggest in the US and it's growing at a healthy rate. (Though personally I don't like American porn because vaginas bigger than my fist is too loose for my taste).

Conclusion, yes some poster got it right. Americans are quite sexually repressed given that this is a country in which men are quite ready to pay $$$ to see whores on video.

I'm not a republican, yet I don't think this quiz was appropriate. Did you just look at the thread title, think for .00032 seconds what a meanie conservative would do, and then make your post? That is about as much thought as it contains. Also, if 70%/90% figure is correct, how are they sexually repressed?

Your comment regarding out of wedlock sex does not reconcile either with your stance, very hypocritical actually. What is it? Repressed or sluts?

Conclusion: you don't have children and are incapable of stepping, let alone thinking, outside even the most simple partisan line.

Really?

How long do you think it will take to reach a consensus among all those groups? So a school system in Missouri should have input from a parent in Delaware?

I reckon that is biased. It's kind of hard to see the dolphins because 1) they're the same colour as the rest of the background and 2) because this is a really poor-quality design, since a lot of the dolphins are apparently hideously mutated (like the one making the shadow of the woman's breasts and the one contributing to the right nipple). The face region, which seems to be made with a much greater level of skill than the rest of the drawing, makes it quite easy to see the dolphins.

Dolphins? Really? You sure you're not looking at 2073600 pixels surrounded by a plastic bezel?

Biases, biases, biases.

(Psychology is hugely important in philosophy.)

Am i the only one who thought it was funny (i won't let my child take the quiz but it was funny...) ?

Is it appropriate for 16-18yo's in an AP class? Yes.

Do parents have a right to complain? Yes.

Must the school do as the parent(s) desire? No.

Should the parents have the right to remove their child from a specific class or school? Yes.

Read the quiz. The teacher should be severely disciplined if it's his first offense. If this is not the first time, he needs to be fired. The article you quoted does not address whether this is an isolated incident or not.

The question here is whether the quiz is appropriate. Yes, kids in that age group know it all, I did in the fourth grade. This just comes across as a pervert teacher getting his rocks off looking for reactions from his students. He got a reaction from the school administrators and the parents instead.

He's a dumb ass.

This exactly. The teacher is a closet pervert or child predator. This is not a joke or some small thing, this person needs serious help and shouldn't be allowed to hold a position of authority over minors.

An ancient phrase actually meaning, "Those who can, do. Those too old or crippled, teach their skills to the young." A retirement program for those that survived past the forty year life span.
Still happens today. When you can no longer dance, you teach others how to dance 😉

I wonder if dr pizza reads these threads gets strong urges to ban all of the people who remind him of idiot parents he needs to deal with.
"how dare you give my daughter a math test! this offends my values as a christian! we keep her away from math then you..."

The only people who get offended by this quiz are the people who don't know the answers. First question was:
1. I am a protrusion that comes in many sizes. When I'm not well, I drip. When you blow me, you feel good. What Am I?

If you don't know the answer is nose, you should probably definitely kill yourself.

Not inappropriate for a psych class.

Have you guys seen what's available on the internet lately?

A couple days ago, I was looking for a joke image. Instead of Planned Parenthood, the logo was Unplanned Parenthood and it looked like a coat hangar. I type "unplanned parenthood" into google. EVERY SINGLE RESULT WAS PORN. wtf

As much as parents hate it, young people know about & are interested in sex. This quiz was a good demonstration of how our minds are programed to respond... if the kids found it sexual, it's because they've already been exposed to sexual content.

I don't see a problem with talking about sex in school... in fact I would encourage it, in order to allow young people to learn the good and bad and be able to make their own choices.

Similar things have happened before:

I actually went so far as to find that story and read it myself.. it was not in any way glorifying masturbation, it was in fact disturbing accounts of masturbation gone wrong, things that might encourage kids to explore their sexuality safely.

Also young people are embracing their own sexuality:

I just like this video. Adults needs to "grow up" and acknowledge the sexuality of youth... if you don't teach us about sex or talk about sex to us we're gonna find a way to do it wrong!

It would be interesting to match up this thread with a thread on how the US is falling behind to other countries in terms of math and science, and see which idiots support this stupid quiz while throwing a tantrum about how our schools are doing awful compared to China.

We need more math and science! And sex jokes! Yeah!

Good job, fuckin' liberals.

Maybe if we didn't have all those righties in Texas re-writing the school books, Our children would be better educated.

Good job, fucking conservatives.

At ages 16-18, the students should!
