I am tired of spending $20-30 every year or two for a wallet that just falls apart.

Anyone have a recommendation for a high quality leather wallet that will last for 5+ years?

When I was 16(16 years ago), I went to Italy and while there, I purchased a nice belt and wallet. I still have the belt and it is still holding up nicely. The wallet lasted for 10 years until it went through a wash and dry cycle. Every since then I have gone through wallets every couple of years and I am tired of it. Good leather should age gracefully.

Cliff:
-Sick of crappy leather wallets
-Want recommendations for leather wallets that will last.

I agree. My last three Kohl's wallets have been absolute garbage. I think the brands were Relic, Columbia, and some other Kohl's only brand. After the 60 bucks I've spent I could've had one reasonably good wallet.

Get a $2 bright orange nylon Velcro wallet. They last longer, and you don't have to worry about the cost when you do replace it.

My lambskin leather wallet has held up ok. It's about two years old, and is worn around the edges, but isn't falling apart. It's probably got at least another year, maybe two. Tasso Elba is the brand. I think it was like $30 from Macys.

I <3 my Dopp Regata 88

This is what was suggested to me in the massive wallet thread we had some time ago, I picked one up for about 20 bucks and haven't looked back. I love it. I'm a big front pocket/slim profile wallet guy, and this is a quality piece. I purchased it in May of last year and it currently shows no noticeable wear and tear. Great wallet.

The leather Kenneth Cole I've been using has been pretty good. It was ~40 bucks. Better than kohls brands I had before.

You are right though, I can't find any 'medium priced' wallets at malls. KC is the highest priced one before you have to look in the cases at $300 burberry wallets. How about a nice 100 dollar bi fold?

Get a MAKR wallet. Not only do they look good and age beautifully, they are fully made in the U.S. and will last forever.

I've had mine for three years and will have it for many, many more.

After looking at the products on their website from the link provided by ivan2, they look like they're well made...but they're the most FUGLY wallets I think I've ever seen.

Love my Coach wallet. Got it for super cheap when it was on sale at the outlets. It's very well made.

Most of the Kohl's wallets are retail of about $50-60...you'd really have to spend a lot more than that to get much higher quality.

In general though a wallet is like a pair of shoe, at the low end you just wear them out in a few months to a year...at the high end you are only using them for special occasons or can service them.

I used to like the old Tommy Hilfiger wallets, the quality has gone way down in the last few years. The best was the one with the american flag motif sewn inside. Real heavy stitching and great wearing leather. Most of today's wallets have plastic windows that self-destruct in a couple months.

What the hell do you guys do with your wallets? I've always bought standard $20 leather wallets and each of them have lasted 3 years or more before looking worn / falling apart.

I got an LV wallet as a gift. Looks fantastic after daily use a decade later.

I had a Wilson's leather wallet last for about 4 or 5 years until I lost it. Replaced it with a Columbia wallet from Kohls, which has held up fine for the past three. I got a Big Skinny money clip, but honestly it's not any thinner than my current wallet... not sure what I'm gonna do.

Err, what Kohls are you shopping at? The Kohls down the street for me has most of their wallets for 20 to 30. May not be the most 'premiere' brand, but they get the job done. My current wallet is a ~25 dollar Dockers wallet, seems to be a decent quality faux-leather. But, I got it when Bill Clinton was still in the Oval Office and its only shown a little wear on one or two corners.

It takes at least 5 years to break in a decent wallet.
