I'm curious if anyone has ever encountered an annoying dog-whistle like high-pitched whine from a hard drive? It's not a clicking, scratching or anything that I normally hear when a drive is on its way out. Perhaps not the hard drive itself, but encountered when there is hard drive activity.
This is with a new Lenovo T500, 5400 RPM 250GB drive (don't know the manufacturer), core 2 duo at 2.53GHz. I've run the diagnostics from Lenovo and it says the drive is fine.
At the very least, it's exceptionally annoying. It's annoying others around my office.
Any thoughts?

I searched the archives and found some similar issues, but that appeared to be with desktops and related to the PSU.
