High pitched noise coming from my 2001fp

I just purchased dual Dell 2001fp's and they were delivered yesterday. One of them is emitting a very annoying, high pitched noise whenever it is turned on. It is loud enough to be heard over the fans from my tower, so it is not just my ears being oversensitive. The other one doesn't do this.

After looking on Dell's support forums, the only suggestion I can find it to change the resolution or the refresh rate, neither of which affects the noise.

Has anyone here run across this? Google was no help and this is my last resort. If nobody here can help I'll just get it exchanged.

But yeah, if something is wrong with it (duh) then send it back while it's still covered by the warranty. It would be a real bummer if it cracked on you later on. Plus you would kick your self for not taking the advice offered, so GET MOVING.

Now that you nention that, I distinctly remember not hearing the whine when I first pulled it out of the box and tested it. Since there were 2 of them I tested one at a time and used the same ps. It wasn't until I tried running both that I heard the whine, so I'll double check that.

It would be much more convenient to swap the ps than the entire monitor.

older models have them externally and they look like common AC/DC adaptors
newer ones have them build in

The 2001fp's is external.
