High Perf DDR

I've heard good things about running Crucial Ballistix on A64 systems.

I just remembered, AnandTech did an A64 memory guide a while back that you should definitely check out. I'm sure it's in the memory section of the site.

Leaves room to upgrade. Dual channel provides very little performance gain with an A64. With that stick, you can upgrade to 1.5gb or 2gb later if you want, which you can't do with 2x512mb without taking a huge performance hit because running >2 sticks == 2T command rate.

You don't need expensive RAM with an A64. The performance difference is next to nothing between value RAM and performance RAM. The reason for this is the on die memory controller, it pretty much takes RAM latency out of the equation. 939 Memory Matrix

So you're saying one 1gb stick is better than 2 512? I would probably bot go higher than 1gb in my system. However, how does the performance gain of running one 1gb stick work? I always thought that running dual channel was best? Are there any reviews or benchmarks that show that?
Thanks

2x512 is better, but ribbon is saying that if you want more than 1 GB later on, you will take a peformance when you get a 3rd stick.

I have a pair of Patriot XBL sticks. 512x2 sticks with TCCD chips & Brainpower PCB, these things smoke almost everything out there. If you're interested let me know. Anyone who knows about Patriots will tell you these are the real deal.

Hell yeah they are. My girlfriend has a pair of those I linked earlier (2GB) overvolted and running at DDR500 1:1
