High load temp on e6600 + HSF?

Just built a new system consisting of:

Asrock 775 Dual VSTA
E6600 @ Stock
Stock HSF
Antec P180
Enhance 5150 PS

Voltage Readings:

5v: 4.95V
3.3v: 3.34V
12v: 11.37V
Cpu V: 1.30V

With the stock HSF, I'm having readings of 56-58C load, and I have no idea why it's this high. The HSF is securely set on the processor. Any ideas? Is it time to look towards an aftermarket HSF?

If you're brave enough, you can lap the processor. I found mine was really bad, not so noticable until you start lapping. Also make sure you change your fan speed to 100%.

After all that, an aftermarket cooler will help. I have the Scythe Infinity, but it's really a bit overkill for these chips. The artic cooler pro 7 is well regarded at a much better price of about $30.

That's maybe 6C higher temps than my e6600 on the same board. You should be fine. Don't lap the processor, the couple degree decrease you might get is not worth voiding your warranty on a $316 processor.

There is a heatsink called Blue Orb 2, no one knows how powerful it is because i always see people using Zalman 9000 series(which sucks 🙂 ). I recommend you to try Blue Orb II. and *do not* lap the processor...omg NO.

Excessive thermal compound can also cause temps to raise (it has happened to me).
