High-end PC vs Rainbow Six Vegas

My PC is in my sig. Some of you guys know me from the video forum {salutes}

Anyway, this game boggles my mind...I can run Oblivion with HDR+4xAA, 16xHQAF @ 1680x1050 with a load of beautifying mods and I get average >45 fps. But THIS... even with medium shadows and low blur (motion blur off) the game performs (and sorry to say looks) like crap.
Another thing is I can't believe that there's no native widescreen support for it yet... it has to be hacked. I wish I'd had spent my $50 on a new pair of jeans instead 🙁

I'm running a tight ship here (PC) with Cats 7.1, btw. Also with latest patch.

Yeah, R6 Vegas is a real s.o.b. from what I hear. $50 for jeans? I never spent more than $30 on mine.

A guy's gotta eat too, right? 😉

I'm very dissapointed in the performance...I think only 8800GTX SLI can run this @ max settings and even then...no widescreen support without glitches.

Yeah, the AT article on R6V confirms that the PC version's performance is quite horrible considering the graphical quality. This has become something of a trend though, and you can say the same about almost every recent PC game. I'm glad I have a CRT, so I can play stuff at 640x480 and at least get halfway decent framerates. 😛

Poorly ported game. I usually just avoid console ports for this very reason. They didn't spend enough time optimizing it for the PC.

Excellent gameplay though. It runs like crap on my PC and lowly 7800GT. 1204x768 with low details and it stills bogs way down. I'm near the end, at the dam where the guys come out of the garage door, and the dam level has been quite slow the whole time. I guess it's almost over once I get that garage part down (I keep dying). So fairly short game I think, which sucks cause it's fun gameplay.

The game very fun to play, but even with my system OC'd it can still dip down into the 30s during heavy fights. That is, playing at 1600x1200 with max settings.
