Don't get the graphics card... lol

Reasoning (In Order)

Way too much frickin' money

AMD Drivers

Waste of money, if anything get 2xHD 6950 2GB and flash them to 6970's

Since he will be using this for 3D work he probably doesn't want to deal with a lot of the driver issues CrossfireX provides.

If you are going to get one of the two overprice behemoths, get the 590 from NVidia

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-630-_-Product

But again, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE...

These are cards I would recommend for your usage.

GTX 560Ti (Low End)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-604-_-Product

GTX 570 (Mid Range)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-613-_-Product

Then this last one probably isn't necessary and is still too pricey, but if you really NEED to drain your pockets...

GTX 580 (Top End)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-360-_-Product

Now before you jump in with your "but I do 3D so I need super special stuff"-like comments. I also work professionally in 3D Animation and VFX. So don't think the advice I give doesn't have any hands on knowledge behind it.

Now if you REALLY want a good experience for that 700 euros, get yourself a Quadro 4000

Now I know my links were for a U.S. Site... I'm sorry for not noticing you are from Europe. If you can link me to the site you'll be ordering parts from I will be overjoyed to edit my links :)

Now that we're through the Graphics Card, lets talk RAM.

While Corsair Vengeance is 1.5V and will work, it is overpriced by around $20 over here. You can get nice 1600Mhz 1.5V Ram without useless heatspreaders for a lot cheaper and see no noticeable difference in performance.

As a gaming PC, it is a waste of freaking money. As a pro workstation, it is pretty abysmal.

  • Cooler Master Mega Flow Red 200mm
  • Corsair H70
  • Corsair Professional AX850 850W
  • Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9 kit

  • XFX Radeon HD 6990 4GB

To be honest, the only parts that I would keep out of this setup are the i7, Windows, SSD (curious to hear where you found it in stock), and HDDs.

For the rest, you'll want to take a much more reasonable approach to the core system and include an Nvidia GPU for pro apps. Something like this:

i7 2600K
Hyper 212+ or Noctua D14
GA-P67A-UD3
8GB DDR3 1333 w/o heatspreaders
GTX 570 (580 if you must)
Vertex 3 SSD or Mushkin Callisto Deluxe
2x Spinpoint F3
Fractal Design R3 or Antec P183
Antec, XFX, or Seasonic 650W
Windows 7

That should run you about 50-60% of the cost of what you had picked out and be better for professional apps.

If doing real 3D pro work then possibly dropping some cash on one of these instead would fill out the budget.

The 4000 really is a lot easier to stomach, but it would be better to spend his money there then on premium RAM and waste a ton on an overpriced mobo. More likely he'll get a performance boost there. I would personally save the money instead though, but that is just me :)

i7 2600K
Hyper 212+ or Noctua D14
GA-P67A-UD3

Vertex 3 SSD or Mushkin Callisto Deluxe
2x Spinpoint F3
Fractal Design R3 or Antec P183
Antec, XFX, or Seasonic 650W
Windows 7

I agree. The OP put gaming first in his list though, so I'm not quite sure where he wants this build to go.

Yea, i was just offering it as a suggestion in case he were going to go for an actual pro machine ;)

Quadro cards do have DX11 now, gaming would not be bad on a Quadro. So not all is lost in the gaming world with a pro build.
