High End New Build Suggestions

Hello Guys;

Suggestions on parts if you can. Am going high end, since this might be the last treat for a while.

CPU: i7-5820k (28 lanes) or i7-5930k (40 lanes)
MB: Asus Rampage V Extreme X99 or Asus X99-E WS
(If there is a MB with better performance or quality let me know)

• Asus Rampage V Extreme PRO: well known and has cool OC panel, bult-in wifi ac, better audio card and better protection. Con:4way crossfire you get x16/x8/x8/x8 with 40 lane cpu. 28 lane cpu 3 way CFX only
• Asus X99-E Ws Pro: x16/x16/x16/x16 with 28/40 lane cpu con: can't be found in local stores

According to test sites there is hardly any difference between x16 and x8 (e.g:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFMzRZqFh-w)

Ram: 64gb DDR4 XXXXMHz
(Speed not decided, maybe 3000 MHz. current pc 32gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram usage: 65%)

VGA: 2xGTX-780 or 4xR9-280x
(Depends if I can sell my mining vga cards for a good price or not)

CPU Cooler: ????

The following are available in local stores:

• Corsair H100i: Too loud
• ThermalTake Water 3.0 Extreme: Terrible software
• Cool Master Seidon 240M: Worse than the water 3.0 extreme
• Antec Kühler H2O 1250:

Or I could order online but the performance has to be a lot greater since it'll cost 30 dollars or more to get it shipped to me.

• Swiftech H220X: seems interesting and has a good performance, but open loop which means needs to be refilled.

PSU: Seasonic x 1250W gold or Thermaltake 1475W Toughpower XT Gold (1250W for 2x780 and 1475W for 4x280xl)

Monitor: Asus ROG Swift PG278Q or Acer XB270H or 4K monitor (The first 2 are with g sync the last with out gsync)

I already own the vga and psu.

Meaning that those 4 280x's are your mining cards? Or all of them are? If you don't own the 780s, I suggest looking at 2xGTX970 instead.

i have 6 280x mining cards and 2 780 which i bought in feb for gaming but they failed and got them repaired.
2 of the 280x am giving away to my cousin and using 4 for ultimate gaming system.
Since I have a lot of cards if I can't sell them at a good price then I would use the 2 780 as a work station while 4 280x for gaming

If you're going to get a gsync monitor you need to run nvidia cards so that will be the two 780GTX, also the scaling on quad GPU's can be problematic.

That is why am going with 780.

Talked to a friend he told me to wait at least a year. DDR4 will be cheaper and intel skylake (less heat more performance) will be released and it got me thinking. What do you guys think?

current setup:

• CPU: i7-875K @ 3.8Ghz
• CPU Cooler: Thermaltake water 3.0 Extreme
• MB: Asus p7h57d-v evo
• Ram: 16gb ram 1333MHz
• GPU: 2 gtx 780 (still not installed. Used to be installed then they failed sent them for warranty repair )
• PSU: Thermaltake toughpower 1500W Silver
• Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-1

Feels like am overdue for a new pc. The gpus can last me another 2 years but looking at the new technology makes me want to upgrade.

Don't get SLI. Just don't. 2 GPUs are never worth it. Plus Total Rome II and Company of heroes (the new one) never even bothered to support SLI. Just get a single GPU. Skip the fancy pants mobo's and get a basic mid range board (I use a X99 Extreme 4 for my 5930K). There is little difference to higher speed RAM, may as well get a basic 2133MHz kit.

The real question to ask when deciding whether to upgrade is "What task is my current PC not performing adequately?"

If the answer to that question is "Nothing" or "Hmm, let me think for a bit", then you probably don't need an upgrade just yet.

If you can think of examples of things where your current PC isn't getting the job done to your satisfaction, then you should upgrade.

Note: "But faster parts are available," and "It's been a while since my last upgrade," are not answers to the question above (that's the idea behind the question).
