I am going to build a AMD64 3200 machine with MSI board, also reuse some of the old parts (nVidia TI4200, DVD Burner, LCD). I am not a big gamer, but did play game with it, and it is mainly for photo editing, web design, programming stuffs).

Since one stick of 512MB high end memory ($120-$150) is almost equal to two 512MB value memory($80 X 2), so which one is best for me? Thanks in Advance.

Go with the 1gb, I have built a number of rigs with Kingston Value Ram and they all run perfectly fine (non-OC'ed)

1GB of memory is best. Memory latencies don't matter anymore, just under 5Fps difference.

i woudnt. it is typically more expensive and runs at the slowest timings. they all have lifetime warranty, so i just do see why anyone would buy that crap crucial 3200.

Thanks for all your reply. Look like Kingston Value Ram 512MB is the best bet right now ($93 at newegg).

the only real question you need to ask is "will I be overclocking"

if you don't need to O/C.. good the regular stuff will work fine.. I have generic in a lot of PC's at work, (even the small servers like email server) and they all work completely fine (stability and everything)

Yes those crap timings make all the difference

However when it comes right down to it you can't beat Crucial in value. Since the difference between all five memory modules was very slim to begin with (the largest variance was 3% in one instance), Crucial's price advantage over Corsair is significant. In fact, buying two PC3200 Crucial modules is about 30% cheaper than buying two PC3200 Corsair LL modules (be it LL/TwinX or vanilla CAS2.0 modules).
