Dear Friends,
-My onboard USB port (USB 1.1) consume a lot of CPU Usage (up to 100%) when any high speed (USB 2.0) Mass Storage Device (such as thumbdrive/external harddisk/digital camera) connected to the port(s). Also, I had installed another add-in PCI USB 2.0 card (2 ports) using VIA VT6212L chip, but still have the problem.
-I've tested using WinME and also WinXP SP2, but the problem still persist.🙁
-FYI, some years before, I had accidentally short-circuit two USB cable, both connected to the onboard ports (the motherboard using VIA Apollo Pro chipset (VT82C686 & 686A)). One of them had the plastic half-melted (it's like a handphone charger - the purpose is solely supplying power to a USB device).:|
-I've seen that some of the capacitors have been bulged and nearly leaked. Then, I had refer to (1) http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=195 (2) http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_30328/article.html (3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague for more info. Could it be the cause? If so, can it be repaired (replacing the capacitors) by myself?
-Or could it be an incorrect settings in the BIOS? If so, can anyone give me some tips?😕
-My system specs :-
Motherboard : Soltek SL-65DVB (BIOS Rev J8.2)
OS : Windows XP
CPU : Pentium 3 1000EB
Memory : Apacer 256MB CL2
-Thank you.
Best regards,
-Musafir86.
