That's a good point. Best bet is get a bigger flash drive, or an external HDD and put a VM on it. You can optionally encrypt the whole VM too, I don't know if trucrypt does FDE but you could do that.

Worst case scenario? Store it on a SD card. I seriously doubt anyone would find that. Starting up a VM and all that seems a bit excessive. Might want to consider telling your parents you beat off and that you'd appreciate it if they mind their own business and not search for your stash. That will probably save you a lot of time with all the covert operations.

Awesome tip. Hiding in plain sight. It's also a very dignified way, unlike sneaking around with a USB drive. It's not a paranoid solution either, no passwords or encryption.

This is a 95% safe method and won't be found out unless someone decides to reorganise storage or use some 3rd party tools. Maybe stuff like windows or itunes will stumble across pr0n, when searching for media files...

One disadvantage remains, files can easily be accessed via "recent documents" in both windows and media player. For XP it's possible to disable logging altogether, or write a .bat file to one-click delete the /Recent folder, as well as disable history saving in your media player.
But what to do in Win7?

to clear windows 7 recent history just right click on the Recent Items tab and click on clear Recent items list

another "potential" problem is that windows explorer remembers the file location and when you start typing in the explorer it auto fills the folder in

Right click the folder location in explorer and "delete recent history"

For recent history go to the taskbar properties and uncheck "Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar". Pretty sure that disables it.

My p0rN collection is 30GB but mainly because most are 1080p. Streaming that and moving around the video would be a ball ache.

I agree. What do the rest of you guys have 1tb + hdd's for, anyway? Games shouldn't take up more than a few hundred gb's, figure 50gb for OS/temp internet/page file/etc etc. My 2tb data drive only has 750gb left, and my wife thinks that it's mostly full of pictures. Well, she's right, but I also have video, audio, etc etc etc...
