I believe its a SP1 issue.

I have four pc's with and it has worked on all of them (no full SP1 applied).
Recently built one for my brother-in-law with SP Pro + SP1 and it never worked.
Updated my sons with all the outstanding updated and it stopped working on his.

Anyone seen this issue and any suggestions.

Since they are all accessed during a system steup, none have yet attained the status of "inactive." There has to be a time threshhold of inactivity for an icon to be so classed. A reinstallation starts them all off at the same time. Wait a week and see what happens. I don't know what the time factor is - WinHelp does not confide that info with us mortals. :)

I figured the new installation may have been part of the cause for my brother-in-laws but my son's was just updated via the downloaded updates not re-installed. That is why I think its a SP1 issue but not sure. Also the "<<" does not show up on the task bar.

PS. Its been right at a week since the update.

Which icons are you trying to hide? Some programs just don't work well with this feature because the info they pass to Systray is always different, so that setting one instance to "hide" doesn't affect the next one.

Also, I assume you've set the "hide inactive icons" setting in Start Menu properties...
