Another Artifex Mundi bundle. This is a build-your-own-bundle. Looks like it's 50 cents per game, and you have to buy at least 2. It's not as cost effective as previous Artifex Mundi bundles, but you can pick only the games you don't already have.

Generally point-and-click. I think I've played a few with puzzles that were click-and-drag as well.

How does game play work in these games?

The core of the games usually are that you are given a screen of graphics with 'hidden objects' to find, usually with a timer.

They have a story to the game that is a little more relevant than the story in a porn movie - it's there to add some enjoyment and support the game, but the main gameplay is the object searching.

They also sometimes add other types of 'mini games' for variety.

I haven't played that many, so there might be other gameplay. Pretty cheap to try one - try to get one by Artifex Mundi - and see if you like it.

They usually have three parts:

1. Graphic adventure using point & click and inventory objects to solve puzzles (e.g. use a sword to cut vegetation).
2. Mini-games. They're extremely varied, for example a sliding puzzle in a stained glass window to put the pieces in the right place.
3. Hidden objects. You get a list (or silhouettes) in a scene loaded with other objects, and you have to click them. Think "where's waldo?"

How does game play work in these games?

Basically it's a 2d puzzle game, each area in the game is represented by a 2D screen which has objects of interest in it, some you can pick up and add to your invention, some you can interact with and some like doors take you to new areas which are different screens. Normally if you interact with a puzzle you get a separate puzzle screen pop up to do the puzzle on before you advance. It's very much like the very old puzzle games Myst except targeted at much lower end of the puzzle spectrum so that most people can play easily and enjoy. You also sometimes get hidden object screens which are crammed with 100's of items and you have to pick out specific parts.

I agree with Iron Woode, the Nightmares From the Deep series is one of the better ones IMO and one of the ones I started on. They're just cheap and cheerful bits of fun, not a big time commitment and will exercise your brain a bit but not stress you out.

Seems good, starting with Strings of Deception. Streams ok to steam box. Heck for 25 cents a game, got my money's worth already with this title.
