<serious thread>
Recently I had a wonderful opportunity to interact with some special needs children, some of which were foster children. The kids ranged in age from around 8 years old all the way to 18 years old.
The kids did not have a father figure of any type.
The foster mother, who was not married, seemed to be doing a wonderful job with the kids.
What got to me was how the children had been taken away from their parents for various reasons. The most common reason was drugs.
The other issue seemed to be the parent just walked away.
The kids were wonderful to be around. My heart is sad because a parent could just walk away from kids that are great to be around.
