Hidden Album Files

How do I see files like album art, desktop.ini, thumbs.db, and others. I've tried changning the folder options but that doesn't work. I've tried searching for them, but no luck there. The only way I can see them is through a burning application like Nero. But I just want to open up the folder and view them, possibly delete them.

You need to use the secret glasses that Benjamin Franklin invented, and switch the different lenses around until you see the files.

But seriously, it should be My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View and then click on Show Hidden Files and Folder. That should do it.

My guess is that 99 out of 100 members on AT are smartasses at one time or another. I would attempt to help you but I fear your wrath if you don't get the answer you want.

Since you've already tried the suggestion above, go back there and look for the option of "Hide protected operating system files". Remove the check from that box, confirm that you really want to show those files, and then click OK to get back to the folder view. That should show desktop.ini and thumbs.db

Not sure you're going to have much luck deleting them, though. desktop.ini and thumbs.db are both automatically created by Windows when you view the respective folders.

Thank you. Someone who finally helps. So then, if I were to transfer the files to an mp3 player, would those files come with it? And what of the album art?

If you have it set so that the thumbs.db and such aren't viewable, if you select all the remaining files in that directory to put on your mp3 player, then just the files you selected will be transferred. Since the thumbs.db, etc. aren't displayed, they aren't selected when you do a "Select All"

As for the album art, I'm not totally sure about that one.
