Hidalgo was utter drivel.

I haven't watched it yet, but I will. I don't expect much out of it. I just want to see it! :)

Thats kinda what fiction is. :)

The marketing campaign for the movie probably put you in the wrong mindset.

it is just a fair film . . . IF you can "suspend belief" (a requirement for MOST movies) it can be enjoyable.

The point of the film was the half-indian/white man awknowledging and finding ALL of him and his heritage (much like the "bastard" mustangs) . . . a 'feel good' Disney movie with OK acting and average (to poor) writing without much thought to what is "logical" . . . don't forget the meetings of the "worlds" - the stereotype conniving british bitch, the evil Arab, the good Arab and his culture vs. the brash american - half-indian . . . and then throw in the horse story . .. and a "love" story and a "contest" and lessons about "morality" and "winning" and . . .

. . . they tried to do "too much". :p

Now you can look up the definition of fantastic and incredible, and you'll see what I mean. If I write a story about how I got in my car today and went to the movie store and then to the garden center, it's fiction. Nonetheless, it's neither fantastic, nor incredible.

Yeah, and that's why they had to derive 2/3 of the movie from other movies. The painted horse, the evil brit, ad tedium :) I found it funny that all of the arabs knew english - but not quite enough to keep out subtitles at certain pointless parts of the movie.

Suspending disbelief is something one does to enjoy the matrix, or superman. This movie, however, followed no rules of its own and arbitrarily made things up as it went along. Those defending this would presumably argue the same if hidalgo had sprouted wings in the middle of the race or frozen time while he ran. I'm glad I'm in good company, since most people did find the movie to be a bad one.

i knew it wouldnt be good before it started, not because of the previews, but because she has bad taste and almost every movie she picks to watch isnt worth a damn
