Hey I just installed my HID system a few days ago. It worked alright for a couple days and then the left bulb started acting strange. Sometimes it doesn't turn on, sometimes it does. When it does, it looks all yellow wheras the other bulb looks white. Anyone have any experience with an HID system?

Something doesn't look right. What K are those? 4000K?

My HIDs are 5000K. The driving lights below are the same as my original headlights.

If your lights are cutting out, it could be the wiring harness. I had some corrosion on my contacts causing the lights to go on and off. It could also be a bad ballast. Try different combinations to localize the problem.

There is no way that is 5300K, at least not from the picture. My bulbs are 5000K and yours look yellow and halogeny :))). Time to send those bulbs back and get some new ones.

Well the pictures aren't particularly great, plus it's daytime. I agree that the burned out one looks like halogen. If it's not 5300k, what is it?

The one from the right side of your car looks like a cheap dipped halogen with a rainbow effect. It could possibly be a result of your housing but it doesn't look like a crisp HID. I would say its about a 4000-5000K bulb. The busted one looks like a regular halogen at 4000K or less. Neither of them look bright though.

You should probably clean your housing to make the lights look better.

Almost everyone I know has had problems with the McColloch kits. Most of them having problems with the ballast, some wiht the bulbs. I take it you did install the ballasts correctly?

HID != blue lightbulbs....

I'm in the process in converting my A4 into hid. I got one headlight with ballast/bulb... just need the other one :)

My test car this week also has HID, but probably from a different source..its not as blue as the mazda one. Its also got cool LED taillamps. Named after a bay in Jamaica. Anybody guess what kinda car it is?

A Reefer?

Or a Stoner?

All of the latter pics look fantastic (especially aphex), but the original poster's pics look completely underwhelming. I purchased some Silverstar halogens over the weekend (rated at 4000k), and they look 10 times better than what you have going right now, even in the good headlight IMO. I'd send back what you have for a refund, and hook yourself up with whatever Doggiedog has.

Mine are Philips ballast unfortunately with dipped 5000K Philips bulbs as they only had 4000K and 6500K non-dipped at the time.

I'm more than happy with them though. Make sure to aim them low as you'll blind people with poorly adjusted HIDs.
