Yes this is true for all HID kits and whatnot that have been flooding the market. I'm soso on this.

I've seen HID kits and person and yes they all suck, because the bulb just hits the reflector and the glare gets everywhere, so I have no problem with these kits being illegal. However, I have much more issues with SUV's and bigass trucks with their lights right in my rearview, but I doubt anything will come outta that...

However, I do have HID's on my car, and there weren't there stock...but they are projectors, and there isn't any glare (I could post pix if people don't believe me). too bad they're illegal anyway

I'm confused by some of the terminology being used... if it's the ~400$ setup, then that is really an HID setup. It's just that in most cases the housing wasn't designed for it and it doesn't have the auto adjusting that OEM setups have (that is what makes it legal).

Fake HID would be those blue higher wattage bulbs ya buy at Pep boys, those really blind people (the way the light is dispersed makes it more prone to blind others - no cutoff lines). Any type of apparatus that doesn't use a filament and uses a real HID bulb is a real setup, just might not be legal because of the auto adjusting. the fake halogens are more worse at blinding people because of the way they disperse light.

Now, I've converted my worthless 9006 halogen setup with a 9006 HID setup. My car has OEM projectors. I now can actually see the road much clearer, have a relatively sharp cutoff line (no cutoff line with halogens), don't blind others while driving. The only difference between mine and an OEM setup is the auto adusting.

As for going over hills and blinding others... this happens with regular ol halogens. if your windshield is so badly pitted that it is hard to drive at night then I would reccomend stopping a police officer so they can give you a ticket since their are laws as to the condition of front windshield's condition (cracks, etc).

High beams are generally not HID lamps because HID lamps tend to take a couple minutes to 'heat up' to be at full potential.

All this does is going to make it so that people will ghetto-rig their own setups that will be 10x worse than any HID kit.

and some people buy projector HID bulbs (their are 2 types of bulbs) for their reflector housing... this creates a problem.

Considering his ID is "SportSC4" and his profile has a link to a lexus website, I'm guessing his car is a SC400 and they have projector housings stock...............

Why? There are too many laws already.

I think that they should just make illegal the HID kits that don't conform to the requirements.
Most stock HID is at 4xxxK and I know people who installed HIDs at 12000K making the light output to be purple.
What's the point of having purple lights?

It's obvious some of you people never drive in rural areas.

I wouldn't feel comfortable visiting my parents in the country without my high beams. Especially in the fall when Deer season is in. High beams are the difference between seeing that deer and stopping in time or seeing that deer and hitting it because you cant stop in time (with them off).

The entire world isn't illuminated by street lights.

Are you kidding? I live in Iowa. It doesn't get much more rural than that. I use my high beams often, but I was just getting at the point that you can flash your lights and tell someone to go or that it's okay to get over, etc.

because it's not the wattage

it's the light hitting the reflector with the glare going everywhere

I hate HID's and agree that improper ones should be made illegal because of how they blind oncoming drivers, but I disagree with this. Properly mounted fog/driving lights point low to the ground and slighty off to the side. I think all cars should have them and that people should use them. They make it easier to see the yellow and fog lines, improving nighttime driver safety, while not blinding anyone because they point so low.
