HID conversion kits

Just wondering....I have seen a lot on ebay and from websites like HIDExpress and HID-lights, but I'm leery of spending $250+ .

I've done conversions in at least 10 different kinds of cars but i always used mercedes benz oem equipment for the conversion. It really wasn't that bad in any of them

how much does the MB oem equipment cost? And I'm assuming they wont work in just any car?

Real HID kits range from $400-800. By "real" I mean made by Philips. HID is a patented technology, pwned by philips. So if its not philips, its not HID. And if its not at least $400, then its not a "real" kit.

That said, the kits on ebay for $250 aren't too bad. They aren't as good as the read thing, but you get what you pay for. And their still a lot better then normal Halogen's and even Xenon. Its worth it, but just so you know the more expensive "true" kits are going to be better.

Not sure as the price i actually have a few sets due to working for them you make friends with people in the body shop. But i have not had any problem in any car yet. The hardest part is making the bulb fit correctly

I've done it on my acura and I am overall satisfied. I've heard the best kits are made by Philips but they're pretty expensive somewhere in the range of 400 - 600 dollars depending on the type of kit and degree of color. I ordered a set of McCulloch from Ultrabrightlights and they've been working flawlessly for the last year. People say bad things about them not working or burning out after a month but I've had no trouble.

If aimed correctly they're fine. Hell, I think mine are aimed way too low. Oh well, doesn't really affect my vision (no, i don't have HIDs)

HID's (from the manufactures) aren't blue...maybe those stupid PIAA lights that riceboys put on their hondas are, but I actually want them to increase the visibility on my Jeep.

Just depends on what color temp you get. 4300k is nice a white and provides tons of light. The really blue ones output a lot less light.

i have a projector conversion on my car

it was like ~1000 total. Nowadays you can probably get by for about 600-800.

are they even legal? the lense/reflector has to be differently designed to accomadate the hid....safety factor.

Awesome, I designed ultrabrightlights.com =) They gave me a McCulloch HID kit in return, I sold it on ebay for $200 shipped.

The Philips MPXL-DL50 is a great bulb, if you can find it, but you'll need a boost type 50w ballast (like the Auerswald), and a good lens design to take advantage of it.

My MDX with 5000K HIDs

Notice the difference between the HIDs and the driving lights. The driving lights are the same bulbs as the original headlights.

I bought mine for $550 a while back. Its definitely worth the money I paid. I also adjusted them down and I have never gotten high-beamed by anyone. These lights are so bright my high beams aren't much brighter.
